Role:

Chaulatae is the greatest power of law amongst the five elder deities. She is the mother of Olhantam's son Ankaris, of Vendaneran's children Zandaron and Jasamai, and of Sethanit's daughter Motara. She is on good terms with Vendaneran, but is diametrically opposed to her sister Kaichea. She blames her sister for much of the woes of the world, and has vowed to stop Kaichea's chaotic influences.

Chaulatae is depicted as a tall, four-armed woman with steel-gray skin and black hair. In battles against the forces of chaos, Chaulatae wields her three swords, and uses her iron band as a shield. Her symbol of three crossed swords interwoven through an iron band symbolizes the containment of disorder, turmoil, and individuality within a strong, bonded circle. Common titles for Chaulatae are the Binder, Mother of Order, and Lady of Unity.

Maintaining order and unity are paramount concerns for Chaulatae's clergy, and the sacrifices to achieve this end are largely of secondary importance. Priests of the Binder frequently collaborate with Vendaneran's clergy for mutual interests, but are intolerant of Kaichea's priests and will not knowingly associate with them. Theirs is the only true path, and other beliefs are misguided at best, or openly deceiving at worst.

Chaulatae's temples all employ the Binder's symbol in their architectural design. They are solid, functional, and austere structures that provide few physical comforts. Her temples are more often found in large cities then in rural areas.
