House Rules
DMs rulings are final. The DM is always right, even when wrong.
No Paladins at 1st level, prestige class only. This will be developed with the DM if a player wants to explore the Paladin class.
Backgrounds from Grim Tales, pg 4-6 with some minor changes. +4 skill points at 1st lvl to use in any of the skills given from the background chosen.
Hero/Action points-will be used, exact method not yet decided. Will discuss with players during character creation. I want hero points to be HEROIC and CINEMATIC!
Horror Checks-on occasion, Horror Checks may be required using the rules from Grim Tales pg 142-152. Fight! Or Flight? Rules may be added to the Horror checks as well pg 143.
If there is a rules question that can quickly be answered by checking a rulebook (PHB or DMG), we will look it up. If it takes more than a minute or two to look up, the DM will make a ruling and it will be final until the end of the session. At that time (and only that time), we will look up the rule, discuss it, and learn how it works so it is done correctly next time. The ONLY time the DMs table ruling will be overturned is if the ruling resulted in a PC death.
If a rule is found after the fact that would have changed the result of something in a previous round or action, forget about it. It already happened.
Hit point rolling:
You can roll a number of dice equal or less than your new level, and take the average of the dice for your hit points.
You can roll one die, and if unhappy with the result, roll the next die down. You can continue doing this until you are satisfied, or you are rolling a d4. When you roll a d4, the number rolled stays, unless your HD is a d4, then you get 1 extra roll on a d4.
Massive damage drops you to -8, not automatic death. This gives you 2 rounds to receive help or stabilize before dying.
Death: At -10, a successful Fort. Save will keep you alive for an additional round.
No multiclassing restrictions, given a good in game reason for the class change. No XP penalties for multiclassing, again, within reason.
Anything from a book besides the PHB must be approved by me. Please feel free to bring things to me that you would like to see, find, encounter, or try out and I will work with you to include them in the game if I think they will work. I have A LOT of books, and am not adverse to trying new things, so feel free to browse my shelves. But PLEASE, bring it to me first before assuming that it will be allowed. (classes, races, skills, feats, spells, PrCl, weapons, etc.)
No ninjas, no guns.
Ability scores: 4d6 drop the lowest, roll 7 times, pick 6 and arrange as desired.
Elves sleep. None of this meditating nonsense.
