Role:

Ilus is a hero of folklore who has risen to divine status. He is the masterful hunter of the arctic north and is undefeated in personal combat. The Master appears as a powerfully built man clad in leather hides and white furs, with white skin, black hair, and bright blue eyes. He is skilled in the use of all weapons, but prefers his battleaxe. Common titles for Illus are the Master, the Survivor, and Lord of the Iceland.

Illus' clergy are survivalists who devote their lifes to the study of weapons and combat. Most are skilled hunters and many are solitary travelers. In order to advance within the clergy they must prove themselves through the rite of mastery. They must seek out a senior priest to receive their task. These rites usually take the form of entering a harsh environment, typically desert or arctic, with no supplies, and surviving for the stated period of weeks. Their teachings are sometimes viewed as harsh, and they do not often interact well with urban settlers.

Though sometimes found in settlements, most temples to Illus are located in wildernesses and remote areas. Their designs usually incorporate one or more dueling arenas, and the priests are fond of gladiatorial events.
