Role: Jasamai is the patron of arcane spells, commonplace and unique. Jasamai symbolizes magic in all its forms and created magical-based creatures, great and small. She is also the goddess of intellect, and promotes intelligent reasoning over physical aggression.
The Mage is the daughter of Vendaneran and Chaulatae. Jasamai has the wisdom of her father, and her mother's lawful inclination. She maintains good relations with her parents and her brothers, Ankaris and Zandaron, but rarely associates with any of the other deities. Jasamai is the mother of Monlotos, Syrtoly, and Throntis, all sons of Zandaron.
To humans, jasamai is a young, attractive human woman with bright blue, inquisitive eyes and long blond hair. To her other followings, she appears as either an exquisite elven female, or as an older gnomish woman. In all of her incarnations, she is a studious person who utilizes intelligence and common sense, with physical violence as a final resort. She always dresses in sheer, silver robes and carries no weapon other than a simple quarterstaff. Common titles for Jasamai are the Mage, the Enchantress, Mother of Magic, and Inscriber of Runes.
Jasamai's clerics are frequently seen as more akin to wizards than priests, which has earned them the disdain of some clergies. When not engaged in clerical duties, priests of Jasamai often spend their days and nights in the libraries of their temples. It is rumored that the temples of the Mage hold copies of all known wizard spells in vaults deep within their confines.
Priests of the Mage strive to bring knowledge and enlightenment to all persons, particularly to those of good beliefs. They are pledged to the advancement of culture and society through education. Though they prefer to avoid physical involvement, they nontheless have proven their worth as excellent spellcasters in most conflics. Their study of arcane spells and divine prayers make them valuable additions to any fighting force.
Jasamai's temples are almost always found in cities and large towns, where the clergy can easily further their scholarly pursuits. They are typically large, well-fortified structures.
There is increasing disagreement amongst Jasamai's clergy regarding the wearing of armor and wielding of weapons. Many teach that to worship the Mage is to forsake armors and weapons, but there are growing numbers that dispute this.
