Role:

Motara is a narrowly focused and highly regimented deity. She exists to promote law and order amongst the races, and has little interest in the individual good. Motara abhors chaos in any form, and advocates warfare as the means to stop the destructive forces of chaos.

The Warrior is the daughter of Sethanit and Chaulatae. She is closest to Ankaris, and openly despises Kaichea. Motara is the mother of Arcannis and Tayne, both sons of Ankaris, and the mother of Viest, son of Burthaggid. The Warrior appears as a tall, powerfully built black-skinned woman wearing full plate mail armor and wielding a two-handed sword.

Gnomes and halflings see her as a stout female wearing chain mail armor enameled white, ,and wielding a short sword and shield. Motara's priests frequently serve as constabulary, and are infamous for their ruthless enforcement of laws. They are increasingly haughty and aloof, and consider themselves above reproach. The clergy are fighting priests who pride themselves in personal combat, and are skilled in military tactics. They are not content to serve merely in supportive roles but aspire to command. Motara's tenets are the only real truth and her priests are notoriously intolerant of those who do not share or respect their beliefs. Common titles for Motara are the Warrior, Mother of Battle, and Eternal Soldier.

Motara's priesthoods are rigidly organized into two orders: the Crimson Sect is aligned with evil, and the Obsidian Sect is aligned with neutrality. Each priest knows her exact ranking within their number, and is obligated to improve. They are frequently assigned missions by their temples, and acceptance is expected. Success offers opportunity to advance, while failure proves the unworthy.

Most of Motara's temples are located in cities and large towns. They are fortified structures and occasionally become full-scale castles.
