Role:

Viest is hailed as the deity who decides the fate of mortal beings, and is counted amongst the wisest of deities. The Fated One refutes this, maintaining that he foresees destiny, but does not create it. He is also one of the most reserved of the powers, preferring solitude to companionship.

The Fated One is the son of Burthaggid and Motara. He remains close to his father but has little association with any other deity. It is said that when Olhantam withdrew Vendaneran's ability to know the destiny of mortals, he then bequeathed the power to Viest, ,grandson of his beloved Kaichea.

Viest appears as a gray, swirling mist that has solidified into humanoid form. He wears a gray robe that is embroidered with his symbols and laced with silver trim. Common titles for Viest are the Fated One, Father of Balance, and Master of Fate.

Viest's clergy are the Ordained. They believe that people follow their individual paths that lead them to their unavoidable destiny. They are quiet and unassuming, and do not actively seek to sway others to their faith. For those who will follow Viest, their paths are already chosen, and their worship of the Fated One is inevitable.

Temples of Viest are located in towns or cities as often as they are found in remote regions. They are open structures whose windows and doors have no locks, and priests, followers, and visitors come and go at will. Viest's temples are usually located above ground, though some are constructed into cliff faces.
