Here is just a little bit of history about our two families:

My grandfather was Henry Fred Worden (b. 1/17/1891) of Wisconsin.

On 6/29/1919, he married Catherine Baer, (b. 9/6/1900) one of 6 daughters and a son of Michael Baer (b. c1871) and Otillia Hoffman (b. c1880).

Otillia was one of 2 daughters and 6 sons of John Hoffman (b. 8/6/1826) and Suzanna Blou (b. 11/5/1829.)

Michael Baer was one of 3 sons and 6 daughters of Michael Baer (b c1850) and Margaret __________ (b. c1852).

Just before Michael (ii.) was born, his mother, Otillia was gored by a cow and died. Michael (i.) remarried Elizabeth Gunder Lambrie with whom he had 2 more daughters and 4 more sons. Michael later married Anna Lambries with whom he had 2 more sons and a daughter.

Henry, his two brothers and his sister were the children of Elzora (Ezra)Worden (b. 6/29/1861) and Anna Genzler (b. 10/1/1865)

Anna later married Alberand Elsworth Burnette, Thaddeus Stevens and eventually John Zachow.

Anna’s parents were Wilhelm Godfield Gentzler (b. 3/29/1829) and Louise Felkner (b. c1840)

Louise’s parents were Ernest Felkner (c1802-1870) and Sarah Kpoitzke(c1802-1880)

Ezra remarried as well; first to Ellen Dunn with whom a son was born.

Later Ezra married Margaret Cornwall (b. c1883), on 11/6/1935, after Ezra put out an advertisement for a mail order bride. Ezra was 74 and Maggie was 53.

Ezra’s parents were John Worden (c1815) and Anna Vande Waker (c1816).

They had 1 daughter and 6 sons, at least three of which served in the Civil War, on the Northern side.

Henry and Catherine had 3 sons and 6 daughters. The first son was Henry Nicholas Worden (b 6/21/1923) who married my mother Merle Crosby (b. 2/17/1996) who, along with 2 sister and 1 brother were the children of Steve Slade Crosby (1899 – 1963) and Donie Benton (7/18/1901-1/19/1984).

Donie had 1 sister and 1 brother. Their parents were Joseph J. Benton (1878-1948) and Katherine Nettles (1882-1947).

Katherine’s parents were Paul Anderson Nettles (c1849 ) and Mary Anderson ______ ( 1856-1872). Paul and Mary had 4 daughters.

Joseph was a descendent of a Cherokee Indian couple.

Steve was one of 5 sons and 2 daughters of Steve Anderson Crosby (c1870) and Katherine Herndon.

Steve Anderson Crosby’s father was called "Doc"

Henry and Merle were married on 1/31/1945 and proceeded  to have four  sons (Mike, Hank, Joe & David) and four daughters (Jane, MaryAnn, Bernadette & Donna).

My father was Harold D. Davis. He was born 11/21/1917 and died 12/20/1962 in Petersburg, VA. He married Helen Eva Hiott on 1/1/1942. They separated about 9 years after I was born.  I had two stillborn sisters, Cherry Cloe and Melissa Ann.

Harold was the fifth son and sixth child of Stephen Alexander Davis and Agnes Alberta Ambrose. Stephen was born 10/17/1875 and died 6/24/1952. He and his wife, Agnes married about 1901.  She was born 9/28/1877 and died c1967.

Stephen’s parents were John Millege Davis (c1830 – 1923) and Emma Kessler (9/13/1887 – 1/14/1960.) They had two sons, George and Stephen.

Agnes’ parents were Augustus David Ambrose (6/21/1853 – 6/21/1899) and Alzada Virgin Usher (3/6/1853 - June 22, 1927.) Agnes had one brother; Carson T Ambrose (3/4/1892 - July 25, 1907.) Carson married Etta (Ambrose?).

Harold’s wife, Helen was the only daughter with three brothers of Calhoun H. Hiott (10/4/1887 – 6/3/1961) and Anna Eva Fender (3/26/1889 - April 25, 1969.) Cal was one of 4 boys and 2 girls born to Messick Loper Hiott (1812–1900) and Elizabeth Rebecca Givens (1814 – 0902.)

Calhoun’s wife, Annie was one of 3 girls and 2 boys born to Joel Wyman Fredrick Fender (1835 – 1925) and Melissa Ann Varnadoe (1862 – 1950.) Joel’s father was Jacob Fender, who emigrated from Germany. He married a lady whose surname was Heirs.

Mike Worden and I were married on June 22, 1968. We had 4 children, a daughter who was still born (Laura Alicia,)  one adopted daughter (Katherine Theresa) and two natural born sons (Michael Patrick and Thomas Stephen.)
