- Rob Baur, a fan of the animated TV series, The Simpsons, after having grafted a tomato plant to a tobacco plant, creating 'tomacco'. An episode of The Simpsons featured the fictional creation of the "delicious and deadly" hybrid, inspiring Baur to try to do the same.
