I have seen this movie already, but I haven't got time to write the new review. Simply put, this is a nice movie directed by Bai Jing Rui and starring Charlie Chin.

The Review you will read here is my old review written before I watched the movie.

The original novel by QY is a lovely piece with an alternative style, which is very different from the rest of her works. "Ren Zai Tian Ya"  (lteral, Being Abroad, Eng, "Far Away From Home") tells a story of two brothers studying abroad, in Italy this time.  The elder brother (played by Charlie Chin)) gives up his singing career after an accident and works hard as a low-class worker in the opera.  He works tirelessly in order to support his young brother's stipend when he also comes to Italy to study art.  The younger brother (played by Ma Yonglin) isn't aware the truth of his elder brother until later.  Along with the plotline of the two brothers, there are also two wonderful girls in their lives.  One is a serene, diligent, and nice shoe-repairman's daughter (played by Hu Yinmeng) who has long been in love with the elder brother, the other is a willful vivacious rich girl (played by Xia Lingling) who falls for the younger brother. 

If you also have the experience of studying abroad, you can probably relate to the story.  

Charlie won his second Golden Horse Award for his performance in this movie. The movie was directed by another famous director Bai Jingrui (Pai Ching-Rui) who has directed Charlie in many of his movies.

I am so longing to see it.

Random Thoughts

"Two Lins & Two Chins" have never made a movie  all together.  If there could be any existing QY's novel suitable for casting all the four stars, "Ren Zai Tian Ya" would be the one since the four leading characters are all likable and well written .  

Chin Han can play the elder brother with Joan Lin as his love, and Charlie can play the younger brother with Brigitte as his girlfriend.  Their personalities all fit well and the story can be equally focused on the four characters without emphasizing on each single one.  

Unfortunately, this will always be my dream.  What a pity that these four stars have never made a movie all together!  They are very different in styles and spirits, but are all engaging and likable.  "Two Lins, Two Chins" together in one movie, I can always have that fantasy, can't I?
