So after driving the car for a little over a week with this setup I'm
happy to report that this setup works great! The ride is quite a
bit stiffer, but still very comfortable and I think really more comfortable
because the car feels like it's glued to the road all the time. My
first impression of the Edelbrock shocks was that they were too soft, but
I've changed my mind and think they're great for a daily driver.
If you're planning on building an autocross car you should probably look
elsewhere for shocks (like maybe the Koni adjustables). They seem
to work as advertised though - soft until you push them hard and then they
stiffen up. If you were wondering if the springs stay in place when
the axle hangs, you can see from this picture that they do. The Edelbrocks
are the same length as the stock DeCarbons so they don't let the rear end
hang too low, but if you're running something designed for the '91-'93
cars with the fender skirts these springs may (read: will) fall out with
the weight off.
As far as how the car looks I'm also very happy. It's a pretty subtle change, which you can probably tell from the before/after picture. It does look better in person however. One of these days I'll try to get a picture of it next to a stock Imp for a better comparison. |
