Here's a good view of the oil cooler adapter and the pipe plug in the side of it. I ordered an oil temp guage and then once I got it wasn't sure where I was going to put the sending unit. (This was a week after the motor was back in the car). So when I pulled that plug and found that it was designed for just this purpouse, I was pretty happy. That was until I overtightened it and cracked the damn casting!!! AAAAARRRRRGGGHHH!!!! You'd think one of these days I'd learn not to do that! So that turned what should have been a two hour job into an all day wild goose chase. Turns out that GM wants $100 for a new one and there weren't any in the state. Crap. Ace hardware saved me again though and I "engineered" a way to fix it. Bottom line: the adapter is a cheap cast aluminum piece of junk, so don't overtighten the adapter! |
