The same argument goes on for Marx's socialism phase
in achieving communism. How often does one give even 100 dollars
to a beggar? Almost never. And Marx expected that the leader would
give away absolute dominance of a nation simply for the good of
others? After a nation's original social system was broken down
in an attempt to reach his utopia, Marx believed that there will
be an era of Socialism, where there is total government control,
and eventually the totalitarian government will melt away for the
nation to become truly Communist. Greed once again comes into play,
and slaughters that generous, divine angel who dwells in our hearts.
After a dictator works so hard (backstabbing others and sweetmouthing
mobs) to obtain all the powers, the chance that s/he will let his
or her authority vanish into the air is thinner than the skin of
a tomato. Marx once again makes the mistake of over-estimating the
goodness in our hearts.
Thirdly, the communist society will produce harmonious,
content, generous people. After all, that is the nature of this
theory. However, these perfect human beings will not be able to
compete against trained predators of the capitalist society. Their
wonderful nature disallows hostility and competition. Also, a communist
nation will not excel economically and technologically as rapidly
because there is no cut-throat competition to push for the development.
When juxtaposed against capitalists, the content, carefree communists
will be pulverized. Capitalists' violent nature is to make money,
and get better so one can make more money. Unfortunately, these
rough monsters will easily out-compete the communists.
A point has to be made clear in this particular
thesis, though. Capitalism is NOT superior to communism. Being able
to survive better only implies barbarism, and is still in the stage
of survival, rather than culturing and beautifying the human race.
If the entire globe were communist, then everything would be fine.
The world would be happy because there is competition. However,
communist countries and capitalist countries cannot co-exist, because
the capitalists will eventually devour the communists. And since
there are capitalist nations around, they alone will form an un-surmountable
obstacle.
In conclusion, Marx was a genius. He created the
utopia where everybody would be happy. However, this utopia will
never come to be. Human nature disallows it. He came up with the
perfect paradise, but we are not perfect enough to live in it. I
believe it is a matter of us improving ourselves to live in communism,
not adjusting communism to suit our needs.
