My First Eye-Catching Runs

After a long period of struggling for a satisfactory suspension setup, my Miata showed a series of outstanding runs on March 31, 1996, the first closed-club practice for my Miata. It was a very tight course. But with my stiffest shocks setting and stiffest rear bar setting, people turned heads on my runs. Many drivers and spectators including Terence and I were amazed at the car's handling through the uphill slalom. "It's like something on rail" and "I think he's crazy" were the comments from the announcer.

After finishing the first set of runs and parked the car, I saw people rushing towards me, just like an Indycar driver has won a race. Some people just crawled underneath my car to see what suspension modification I have. Two other "rear-wheel drivers" was going to introduce themselves to me but found out I was the guy who has been racing the Corolla. Later on the day, the defending champion driving another Miata tried to do the same "stunts" on the uphill slalom with his suspension set for big courses. He couldn't beat my time and said after the runs, "You're flying, man! I can't do that!" However, in regional races on big courses, he's still "The Man to Beat!"
