| Final 2005 Season Stats | ||||||||||||||||||
| The 2005 season of TBL Softball was its most successful season to date. A record number of players attended (40+), thanks in no small part to the introduction of stat-keeping. In fact, the lowest attendence at any one game was 12 players, which would have been a high point for the disastarous 2005 season. TBL Softball had it's first All-Star team, as determined by fan voting. Gold Gloves and Silver Slugger Awards were introduced. Season MVP awards were introduced. The league held its first (and second) ever Home Run Derby - Matt Delguidice took home the title in the first derby, Adam Krakowski the second. A triple crown was awarded for the first time, to rookie Matt Delguidice, who dominated the league by batting .709 with 8 home runs and 32 rbi's. League legend Dean Mozian led these categories early in the year, but slumped to close the year and ended with an average of .569 with 3 home runs and 24 rbi's. Dean did, however, win the collision award when he took out Rich Seibert (herniated disc) early in July and later spiked Rich Quinn in mid August. Greg Hawe dominated the pitching ranks once more this year, using his knuckleball and reverse-spin sinker to great effect. He pitched a monstrous 82 innings and concluded with 3 wins. Second in the running for Cy Young was Adam Krakowski, using his reverse-spin slider and knuckleball, pitching 59 innings with 3 wins, but his higher RA (17.54) gave the award to Hawe. New to the pitching ranks was the commish, Rich Seibert, using reverse-spin sinker and slider, who ended with 33 innings, winning 3 games (losing none) and a small RA of 9.55. The TBL began playing Interleague games this season against the rival KTP Softball League. In the round-robin, TBL and KTP split the series 1-1. A later, mixed interleague game saw the TBL stars fall to the KTP squad as the bullpen squandered the lead held by starting pitcher Rich Seibert. With the exceptional level of play this season, TBL officials look forward to an even better and more competitive 2006 season. |
