RULES
1.  Game length shall be determined at the start of the game - usually 6-9 Innings.  Each inning  will consist of 3 outs.
2.  If there are an odd number of players, the team with the greater number must either:

a.  Pitch to themselves.  The pitcher must field his position

b.  Provide a fielder to the opposing team.  This fielder must play as if he or she were a member of that team from the start.  Extreme lack of effort wll result in the hitting team being penalizied.

c.  If the "loaned" player is due up at bat, the team must supply another player to allow the first player to bat his or her turn in the order.

d.   The loaned player will be the one who made the last out on the hitting team in the previous inning.
3.  There shall be no walks or balls called
4.  A player may strike out by swinging three times.  A miss or a foul is a strike, and you will strike out by missing on the 3rd try or fouling the ball on the 3rd try.
5.  If the number of players available only allows for 2 outfielders, then a ball hit the opposite way shall:

a. On a fly ball to the opposite field, the batter is given a strike.  "Opposite Field" is defined as anything not in center - i.e. anything right of right-center is a strike, left of left-center is live.  A cone will be used to mark the line.

b. Ground balls that make it through the infield the opposite way are live balls.
6.    Home runs are awarded if the ball hits an obstacle at great velocity (i.e. the soccer net at Fox Valley).  If it hits the scoreboard at JJHS, it is a home run automatically - also if it completely clears the scoreboard and manages to miss the pavement.  If the ball is hit onto the pavement at JJHS on the fly, it is a home run.  The commish will determine if a ball which is crushed far enough to be an automatic home run - the batter should play the hit out in case it isn't called an automatic home run, however.
7.    Saves:  If a pitcher comes into the game in the last inning and holds the lead, they will receive a save.  The pithcer cannot pitch more than 1 full inning to qualify.  Pitching less than 1 inning will also receive a save, but is not encouraged.
8.   Errors:  There are no recorded errors.  Pitchers receive an RA instead of an ERA.
9.   Rookies retain rookie status if they only appeared in 1 game the previous season.
10.   Pitchers cannot start 2 games in a row.  The previous game's starter cannot be used as a reliever until after the 6th inning.
11. Umpires: An umpiring committee will be set up at the start of each game.  This committee will consist of the Commish (or designee) and 2 players with a good knowledge of baseball rules, ideally one from each team.  On controversial calls, the umpires will confer and decide upon the correct call.  This call is final and undisputable.
