Enjoying the view in the passenger side seat of his convertible, my friend Dustin, showed me a letter that he wrote to someone he cared about. Although I skimmed most of the message, I came upon a paragraph that clearly resonated my feelings on love.

Begin Quote

I want someone that turns heads, challenges me with intellect, sets the world on fire with talent, warms hearts with love, shares her views with eloquence and articulation, helps me grow in positive ways, is a great mother, moves with grace, inspires others, snuggles well, has little quirks that make her unique, has a passion for music, art, literature, and theatre, professional and business-like, capacity and desire to learn, drive to be successful, shares her feelings and passions, not afraid to laugh or cry, good in bed, follows her heart to do what is right, puts me at ease with a smile, easy to talk with, forgiving of my flaws, and truly loves me for me.

End Quote

Unfortunately, Dustin wrote this in his time of chaos. In the early part of Summer 1998, his significant other dumped him. She drove a stake through his heart. Although, the situation seems tragic, I'm happy that he wrote something that could adequately express the feelings of his heart.
I would have written something like this myself, but then I'd have to passionately love a woman with the intensity of that guy in Somewhere in Time. Then get part of my heart torn out of me as time, circumstances, whatever... got in the way of true love.
I used to watch movies and get annoyed when a tragic ending became a Disney ending. I'm not sure if I'll ever get worked up about an unrealistic happy ending again. Love Story ranked up there in getting rocked by tragedy, too. I still believe that you should apologize if you make mistakes with the one you love, but the story resonates passion.
I believe in being a knight in shining armor. The belief in acquiring true love by opportunity meeting preparedness. The quest to find a woman that inspires me to set challenging goals that I pursue even when the feeling that established them fades.
I'm just beginning to understand what all those love songs mean. I once played Open Arms by Journey in the Manzanita/ Mohave lounge when Kristen Stanford asked me to change it. Didn't make much sense to me then but does now.
