in such a cruel world
why do i feel sucked into
sheltering the same cruelty that i despise?

disregard for others
in a world lacking respect
when respect is what unites

a world filled
with rude, unhappy people
and i fit in quite well

how shameful the story
of my life...
why must i live like this?

why does self reliance
seem to be translated
to selfishness?

a search for the fountain of youth
is instead a search for any fountain
to fill the emptiness of life

i know of such a fountain...
