Q: How do I view the videos?  (AKA: I can’t view the videos.  I get errors when I try viewing the videos.)

A: The biggest problem we see is exactly this.  In order to view Michael’s videos, you need to do the following.

1)       Get RealPlayer version 8.  This is important.  You can go to http://www.real.com and download it right from there.  You only need the Basic version of it, but you MUST use RealPlayer.

2)       Download the video to the local machine.  Do NOT try playing it off the web site.  In most browsers you simply right click on the file name and choose “Save target as…” Save it to your desktop or, if you’re familiar enough with directory structures, save it somewhere else.  Regardless, you MUST save it locally to play.  On the "Intranets" site, you can simply left click on the file name and it will automatically prompt you to save the file rather than playing it from the current location.

3)       Open the file in RealPlayer.  Usually you can simply double-click on the file and it will come right up.  If not, open RealPlayer, click File, Open and browse to the RM file.

4)       Sit back and enjoy!

Q: What is the primary webpage for the Marine JO Videos sites?  Where do I GET these videos from?

A: The primary sites for the groups are as follows:

Official Site: (temporarily)
http://www.oocities.org/raete

Yahoo groups site: This is where the subscription page is.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/marinejovideos4

You can also subscribe by sending e-mail to: marinejovideos4-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Movie Download Site:
http://www.missconet.com:8088/

Q: How do I download the videos to the local machine?

A: Go to the following site: http://www.missconet.com:8088/

Right Click on the pic for the file that you want.  Choose "Save Target As..." (for Internet Explorer, the wording might be slightly different in Netscape or other browsers).

I would recommend saving it to your desktop, or to a folder that you designate for downloads, for easy access.  After it is saved, you should be able to watch it by double clicking on the file name.

Q: I’ve gone to the file section and tried downloading, but Yahoo tells me that I’ve exceeded the download limit for the day on the group.  How can I get the videos?  -or-  I try to download an RM file and it only downloads an HTML file, how do I get the files?

A: This issue was a thorn in Michael's side from the point that Yahoo bought out eGroups.  Thankfully Stephen, one of out generous members, created a website that has all the videos on it.  It's become the official download site for MarineJOVideos.  http://www.missconet.com:8088/

Q: Are the videos available on CD?

A: Currently the videos are only available via the eGroups/Yahoo Groups and Intranets sites.  There is discussion about making them available on CD for a very nominal cost (basically just cost of time, materials and shipping), but nothing is situated yet.  If you have any questions regarding this, please e-mail me, ronj@actaeon.dhs.org, and I'll update you on the current situation.  As of right now there might be some people on the group willing to burn the movies to a CD for you.  Just ask and someone will probably respond.  There's no "policy" set in place about this yet.  Personally, if I had the time to do it, I would.

Q: Where can I get the video tapes?

A: The videos can be ordered through Frathouseboys. You can call 1-800-423-0496. Ask for *both* marine videos catalogs.

Q: Did you record these videos?

A: No.  They are mostly from a series often referred to as the “Bobby Tapes”.  Its some guy named Bobby out in California that “auditions” young Marines for “porn star” jobs.  These guys are all amateurs.  Michael is an admirer of these videos, but not the author.  He is, however, the guy that went to the trouble of taking the tapes and making computerized RealMedia clips out of them.

Q: How does he do it?  How does he get these guys to jerk off for him?

A: Bobby basically tells the guys that they're trying out for Porn movies and that part of the try out is to jerk off in front of the camera.  I'm sure there are other methods he uses to do it, but that's the most common one I've heard.

Q: What’s with the multiple groups, marinejovideos1, 2, 3, 4...?

A: With the space limitations that eGroups and now Yahoo has enforced, the multiple groups became a necessity.  It is recommended to subscribe to all of them if you want the full effect.  Messages are generally posted on each group with little thought as to which group they’re being sent to.  I expect that since Michael has moved the files to the new server, the groups will stop with 4.  However, there will be more and more Intranets sites that show up.

UPDATE: MarineJOVideos 1, 2 and 3 are now just there for archive purposes.  All conversation is done on the 4 group.  New videos are no longer uploaded to the Yahoo Groups site and are being stored strictly on the http://www.missconet.com:8088/ site instead.

Q: Who can I contact for help?

A: For technical assistance, you can generally send mail to one of the groups and someone will be glad to help.  To e-mail the author of the FAQ, send mail to ronj@actaeon.dhs.org.  All submissions to the FAQ must be approved by Michael, the group moderator.  You can e-mail him at grevem@dca.net.

For most technical issues, if you send mail to marinejovideos4-owner@yahoogroups.com, either Michael or I will probably be able to help you out.  Try posting to the group first.  Use the above addresses if you need assistance with something that should not be discussed in the group.  For example, if someone is spamming or harassing you, feel free to let Michael or I know and we can attempt to resolve the situation.
