Automatic Numbering and Bullets:  How do I turn it off?

 

1.       Click on Tools.

2.     Click on AutoCorrect.

3.     Select the tab Autoformat as You Type.

4.     Click in the circle next to Automatic Numbered List, and/or Automatic Bulleted List.

5.     Click on OK.

 

Automatic Spell Check and Grammar Check:  How do I turn it off?

 

1.       Click on Tools and then click Spelling and Grammar.

2.     Click on the Options…button at the bottom of the window.

3.     Click off any options not desired.

 

Columns:  How do I  put text into columns for a newsletter?

 

1.       Highlight the text to be put in columns.

2.     Click on Format, then on Columns (or click on the columns icon: it can usually be found by click on the two >> next to the ?  on the menu bar.)

3.     Select the number of columns.  The text should automatically form the columns.  You might want to select full justify (or spread the text evenly across the line) to spread the text evenly like a newspaper.  Highlight the text, then click on the icon to justify.

 

Customizing tool bars: Insert Frames

 

Method 1

1.       Click on view

2.     Go down to tool bars

3.     Over to customize

4.     Click on command tab

5.     Look for and click on all commands

6.     Find insert frame, click and hold and drag to B I U

7.     This will add a button to the tool bar.

 

Method 2

1.       To put on format menu

2.     Click on view

3.     Go down to tool bars

4.     Over to customize

5.     Click on command tab

6.     Look for and click on all commandsFind insert frame, click and hold and drag to the word format on the top tool bar

7.     Keep holding while you drag down to the word frames and then release.  This will put the insert frame command in the format menu under the frames option.  You may put this button anywhere that is convenient for you.

Watermark

 

1.       Right Click on the graphic

2.     Choose Format picture

3.     Select the picture tab.

4.     In the box to the right of Color: you will see “automatic”.

5.     Click the right down arrow to the right.

6.     Select Water mark.

7.     Next, you need to tell the program that you want the graphic to be under the text.  To do this, click on the graphic to select.

8.     Then, on the little menu bar that appears, select the icon that has a dog on it (text wrapping).

9.     Select Behind the text. (If this does not work the first time, try it again.)
