This one is pretty obvious. Sakura's role in magic is very important, as she's destined to become the mistress of the Clow Cards. When she first starts out in card capturing, she's very weak, but as she captured more cards, she became more and more powerful. Changing the Clow Cards into Star Cards makes her even more powerful!
Without her power, the Clow Cards would probably still be in the Clow Book, and they would eventually lose all their magical power as the magic left behind by Clow Reed slowly disappears. So it's all fate and destiny for Sakura...
