WK 20 themes: in jest
Bonus theme 2. Enemy zone
set during WKG II: Theatre of Pain
Italy is not their world. Even if Youji has picked up a few things from his more exotic conquests, the voices here are jarring in their foreign rhythm, and it doesn’t help that the only other people who can speak Japanese aren’t terribly interested in speaking to him. Anyone can be an enemy in an unfamiliar land; Youji suspects that they’ll either be deported before they can complete the mission, or finished off by the locals themselves.
An elbow in the ribs suggests the latter possibility. Youji shifts closer to Aya, and wishes they didn’t have to take public transport.
7. One night the moon
Aya strode out into the night, trenchcoat billowing with just enough dramatic flair, as the rest of Weiss followed. Youji in particular was trying to keep a straight face, and as such didn't notice that Aya had stopped walking until the trenchcoat's hem flapped against his ankles. For a moment he wondered if he should break the suspenseful silence, then realised the others were staring up at the sky.
It was incredible. He couldn't recall the last time he'd seen the moon like this. Certainly not on a mission night.
The silence lengthened awkwardly. Weiss looked up at the half-moon.
9. Talents/Abilities
"Look, Manx, that time with the air stewardess uniforms was more than enough. I don’t know about Omi -- "
"Hey! What’s that supposed to mean, Ken-kun?"
" -- but personally, I’m not really fond of skirts, you know? Even for mission purposes."
"The kids have a point." Youji was lounging complacently on the sofa, secure in the knowledge that any crossdressing was not going to be performed by him. "Not like they’d know what to do even if they made it in, anyway."
"...actually," Aya said, eyes closed and looking more than a little pained, "I do know how to perform a tea ceremony."
17. Fashion sense
"Mamoru-sama, about the mission outfits that Weiss is using..."
"Yes?"
Rex paused, not knowing where to start. There was Youji, of course, with the painted red cross that simply screamed, "Please shoot me here and end my misery". Then there were Ken and Aya, with inadvisably white ensembles. At least Kyou had the sense to stick with a muted palette and keep his limbs clothed, the latter being more than could be said about Sena's choice of attire.
"Well..."
Then she recalled the satisfaction with which Mamoru-sama had regarded his cravat and coat, and decided to refrain from further comment.
