The class chooses elements for a project, Marshall chooses Helium.

"Marshall, when the stars exploded and formed all the elements on this periodic table, I don't think there was one called, "huh"." – Professor Z to Marshall.

The bell rings and they leave their element models on the table, Professor Z asks Marshall why he's spaced out and Marshall says it's because he's trying out for "Magnet 360", the best band at their school. He then goes outside and looks for someone, his brother, Grant, is coming for a visit, but is late.
In the science room, a Marshall's model begins floating. Corrine helps Marshall get ready for the audition and asks about Grant, but Marshall doesn't want to talk about him. Meanwhile the model of helium in the science lab spins rapidly. Suddenly, Marshall begins floating and speaking in a high voice. Josie, Lucas, and Corrine help Marshall get to the audition, holding him down so he can walk and then taping him to the chair.

"So, you guys are Magnet 360. What an attractive name." – Corrine to Will and Jarrod.

During the audition, one of the two band members stops and asks Marshall if he was Grant Wheeler's brother, Corrine says that he is. Will and Jarrod, the two in the band, talk about how Grant was a legend around the school for being the lead singer and keyboarder in the school's greatest band, "Pulverize". In the science lab, the Helium spins faster and picks up more balls. In the audition, Marshall becomes frustrated with the two, telling them that he isn't Grant, Marshall's voice has returned to normal and he no longer can float. He stands up and reaches for a microphone stand but the stand instantly rusts. Since the audition didn't go too well, Will and Jarrod decide to give him another chance, but only because he is Grant's brother.
Josie, Corrine, and Lucas go to see Professor Z, who is gazing at Marshall's atomic model. Marshall walks in and Professor Z tells them the atomic model is now Oxygen, and so is Marshall, and he is moving up the periodic table and they worry he'll become Uranium, an atom, that with the Marshall's weight, will have enough radioactivity to kill everyone in the school.
Grant finally shows up at Blake Holsey, model changes to Neon and Marshall glows red. Corrine, Josie, and Lucas volunteer to keep Grant from Marshall. They lead him around the school, and he reveals he is also interviewing for a summer internship in the area. Marshall talks with Professor Z, telling him that Grant always does everything better than him. Marshall suddenly becomes Chlorine, corresponding with the atomic model, but now a second atomic model has appeared. Outside, Grant is colored gray, appearing to be covered with "sludge", and it is revealed he is Sodium, the other atomic model.
Professor Z brings Grant to Marshall, forcing them to talk about the rift between them, how Grant may not be as better then Marshall as Marshall believes.

"You must be sodium, I, I mean Marshall's brother." – Professor Z to Grant.

Grant then touches Marshall's shirt and Grant's hand and Marshall's shirt return to normal and salt falls to the floor, Grant being Sodium and Marshall being Chloride create stable Sodium Chloride (table salt). Grant then taps Marshall, returning him to normal, and Marshall taps Grant, returning him to normal. Their relationship is fixed. The two atomic models merge and brake apart.
It is then time for Grant to leave for his interview. Marshall is now the lead singer for "Magnet 360". Marshall goes to see Grant off and Marshall and Grant. They see Victor Pearson and Grant tells Marshall that Victor is the guy interviewing him for the intern job at Pearadyne Industries.

    Episode notes:

    • Janitor's secret message: "The brother cannot be trusted."
    • Although not credited, the janitor does appear in this episode.
    • As a professor, Professor Z should know not to leave a Bunsen burner on with an unattended flame, but he had actually left two on with unattended flames.
    Personal thoughts:
This episode was weird (in a horrible way, not in a misunderstood way). It seemed chopped up, like it needed to be constently shortened in editing, it left a sour taste in the back of my mouth, and made me feel uncomfortable. I know I'm not crazy because others on the StrangeDays forum felt the same way about it. I wonder if that was the point of the episode. Since Grant is seeking a job with Victor, the writer and director wanted the episode to have a "evil" taste to it to foreshadow bad events.
The actor who played Grant seemed like he was uncomfortable. Maybe that rubbed off onto the audience.
Another thing was this episode follows after "Brainwaves" but we see no build on the plot established from that episode there. I thought Corrine's and Josie's fascination with Grant was rather dumb.
This is the first episode where we see that Marshall is capable of jealously (of his brother's fame). It is out of character of him since we see that he has a carefree attitude from all previous episodes.
