Go to: Days at Blake Holsey High
Best Of episode for: Vaughn - 3rd Victor - 4th |
The Janitor follows Josie2 quickly to the stairs. He asks if she knows what she is doing. After replying, she pushes a button on a watch-like device around her wrist and disappears. Time unfreezes and Josie and Lucas see the floating chi gong ball no longer with them. Josie believes Vaughn is responsible.
“Once this is back where it belongs, the timeline is restored.” – Josie2 to the Janitor. “You never know.” - The Janitor to Josie2
Lucas runs after Josie down the stairs. It appears to be the next day because Lucas tells her that he has a theory about what happened to the floating chi gong ball the previous day. Josie, however, blows him off. She is angry at Vaughn. In the hallway, she confronts him. Vaughn tells her that his father needs the floating Chi Gong ball, telling her that he knows she took it from his father, showing her the alternate one. The bell rings and Josie angrily tries to walk past Vaughn but he still wants to talk to her and grabs her arm. In Vaughn’s hand, the non-floating Chi Gong ball glimmers with electricity, corresponding to energy between Vaughn’s hand and Josie’s arm. Both of their eyes glow for a second and then everything is normal again. Josie looks back at Vaughn, seemingly unsure of what just happened. Lucas watches the two from a distance.
“Right, um, Science is a ball, huh.” – Lucas, covering for Josie’s outburst. Later in the day, Vaughn looks over a module. He has an idea about cold fusion.
“Maybe you don’t need that ball after all, dad.” – Vaughn to himself. Outside, in the back, at the picnic tables, Vaughn gives Marshall a list of things that he would like Marshall to track down for him. Marshall finds the items, two being oxygenated water and palladium wire, on the odd side but complies. Before Vaughn walks off, Marshall stumbles over a compliment, that Vaughn seems more intelligent, trying to not make it sound like an insult. Vaughn gives an odd reply:
“Well, intelligent is as intelligent does.” – Vaughn to Marshall. That night, Vaughn is hard at work. Bubble wrap and wires litter his dorm room. Morning comes and we see into Josie’s and Corrine’s room. Corrine is ready for the day but Josie can’t decide which skirt of her uniform to wear. Thing is, they are the same color and design (that we see Blake Holsey High’s uniform is). Corrine points out that they are the same and asks if Josie is alright. Josie realizes that Corrine is right about the skirts and affirms that she is fine. However, Josie again asks Corrine which skirt would look better.
“Oh, I can’t decide which one to wear. What do you think?” – Josie to Corrine. In the lounge, Lucas tells Corrine that something is wrong with Josie and that Vaughn is responsible. Electronic equipment around the room begins shorting out, the stereo and television shoot sparks. Lucas tells Corrine that has been happening all morning and that Vaughn is responsible. The two leave the lounge and walk down the main hall. Confused students look out from the rooms. In the cafeteria, Magnet 360 is about to practice. Lucas and Corrine look into the room. Lucas, realizing what is going to happen, tries to get Marshall to stop but it is too late. A speaker behind them explodes, knocking the three band members down and covering them with dust. Will and Jarrod are amused by what happened while Marshall is a bit dazed. Corrine and Lucas run in and lift Marshall back up and proceed for Vaughn’s room.
“Ah, dude, that was awesome!” – Jarrod to Will. Upstairs, the space between Vaughn’s door and the walls is glowing with bright light. Inside, a tank of water is bubbling as Vaughn tweaks with some wires. Lucas, Corrine, and Marshall walk in, seeing Vaughn working on the machine, which the bright light is coming from. Vaughn is wearing dark goggles. The light goes out and Vaughn turns to see that they have walked in.
“Don’t we knock anymore?” – Vaughn to Lucas, Corrine, and Marshall.
Lucas, Marshall, and Corrine are in shock that Vaughn has built a cold fusion reactor. Corrine realizes that he has actually stole her idea and is furious with him, taking back her module from his desk and walking out, followed by Marshall and Lucas.
“Well, if it’s any consolation, your plans were fundamentally flawed. I had to compensate for some pretty shoddy computations I must say.” – Vaughn to Corrine. “You’re a jerk, Vaughn, you know that?” – Marshall to Vaughn. Out at the picnic tables, Lucas tells Corrine and Marshall that he believes that there is a correlation between Vaughn’s ability to comprehend how to build such machines and Josie’s mental decline. Behind then, Josie turns around, looking somewhat hurt that she is going through a “mental decline.”
“How was I to know that he needed palladium wire and oxygenated water to create a hypothetical energy source?” – Marshall to Corrine. In Professor Z’s office, Marshall, Lucas, and Corrine inform Professor Z of the situation. All Josie can do is sit in the chair. Professor Z is surprised that Vaughn actually built a cold fusion reactor, finding it outside of Vaughn’s nature. They believe that the reactor is responsible for Josie’s depletion of mental energy, thinking that the reactor could be getting a boost from her energy. Out in the hallway, there are some thumping noises, followed by Victor’s voice. Peering out into the hallway, the door to Professor Z’s office was closed, Professor Z sees two men hauling away something is a big blue container marked “Pearadyne Industries.” Victor congratulates Vaughn on his achievement and tells him to come over for dinner that night. Professor Z tells them that they are too late; Vaughn has already given the reactor to Victor.
“Thank you, Vaughn. I have never been more proud of you than I am at this moment.” – Victor to Vaughn. Marshall, Lucas, and Corrine try to convince Vaughn to destroy the reactor but Vaughn refuses. Vaughn does not see a connection between Josie losing mental energy, himself becoming smarter, and the cold fusion reactor. Lucas accuses Vaughn of doing something to Josie in the hallway before class the previous day, which put Josie in the condition that she is presently in. Professor Z brings Josie into Vaughn room. While Vaughn is distracted, Lucas takes the opportunity to snatch a set of keys off of Vaughn’s desk. Josie can’t even remember Vaughn’s name, which seems to hurt all of them that Josie could be in such a state. Vaughn still will not destroy the reactor and Lucas walks out, followed by Corrine and Marshall. Josie attempts to say good-bye but struggles to recall Vaughn’s name, which he again has to fill in for her. Her only reply is that he has a nice name. Professor Z is left after Josie leaves. He tells Vaughn that Josie is continuing to lose mental energy and that further loss could result in brain damage. Vaughn protests, telling Professor Z that something happened the other night that caused Victor to practically lose the will to live. When Vaughn presented Victor with the reactor, Vaughn tells Professor Z that it was such a great feeling to be able to do something for his father that no one else is able to do. Professor Z sympathizes, but adds that Vaughn does not deserve it because the plans and what is being taken from Josie was never Vaughn’s to begin with. Professor Z walks out, leaving Vaughn to think. In the hallway, Lucas shows Marshall the keys that he took, automatically recruiting Marshall to go on a mission with him.
“I think I liked you better less smart.” – Corrine to Vaughn.
“But then again, it is a feeling you didn’t earn. Those plans didn’t belong to you. Neither is what’s being taken from Josie and when you take something that’s not yours, no matter what you do with it, you creates something that doesn’t deserve to last. That’s hardly wonderful at all.” – Professor Z to Vaughn. At Pearson mansion, a nervous Marshall follows a confident Lucas. Using a laserbeam key, Lucas is able to open a door leading to a room where the cold fusion reactor is being kept. Victor is reading and does not notice the two on the security screen. The reactor is running and the room is brightly lit because of it. Lucas finds some dark goggles and hands one to Marshall. Realizing that dismantling the reactor could take days, Lucas picks up a long piece of metal and wedges it between the reactor and the table, tipping it over and causing it to break upon the floor. After a few moments, an alarm sounds and the door is automatically locked, trapping Marshall and Lucas. Victor turns to the screen behind him but the camera is no longer operative; he can’t see what is happening.
“Who are you?!” – Marshall to Lucas Meanwhile, Josie continues to become weaker. She can barely manage to sit upright on a chair. Back at the mansion, Lucas and Marshall hear someone racing down the stairs; someone is coming. They realize it is too late for escape. The door opens, revealing a very surprised Vaughn. They tell him that they did what they had to do to save Josie. As if a revelation, Vaughn realizes that it was obvious and that they were right. He tells Lucas and Marshall that they must hurry out. The second after Lucas and Marshall bolt from the room, a sliding concealed door on the opposite side of the room opens, allowing Victor entrance. He sees the reactor broken on the floor and Vaughn in the doorway. Victor demands to know what happened. Vaughn tells him that he did what he had to do to save Josie. Victor is furious, telling Vaughn that Josie is there to thwart the plan. Vaughn, however, refuses to fix it.
“Wake up, Vaughn! Josie knew we needed a new power source, that’s why her mother enrolled her in Blake Holsey!” – Victor to Vaughn.
“Loyalty, very admirable, Vaughn, but always a gamble.” – Victor to Vaughn. Vaughn runs into Professor Z’s office, inquiring about Josie’s condition. Josie is not getting any better, however. Josie can barely stay awake. Lucas realizes that the energy being taken from Josie isn’t disappearing, it is actually going somewhere; to Vaughn. It wasn’t the reactor. Holding the non-floating Chi Gong ball, Vaughn bends down to Josie, kissing her. The ball glows with electricity, triggering another transfer of energy and returning Josie and Vaughn to normal.
“Did someone just kiss me?” – Josie. “It may have been me.” – Vaughn to Josie
Out at the picnic tables, Corrine asks Josie how long she will remain angry with Vaughn. Lucas asks why Vaughn should be forgiven. Vaughn walks up to the table, where Marshall is also sitting. He explains that he didn’t know he was getting smarter at Josie’s expense. Vaughn gives Josie back the other Chi Gong ball and walks off.
“Look, Lucas, I know you’re still mad at him but he’s not his father.” – Corrine to Lucas. “Not yet anyway.” – Lucas in response.
At Pearson mansion, Victor lies back, slouched, in a chair just eyeing the air before him. He barely looks like he has the energy to keep his head from falling back. The phone rings and he reaches to pick it up, slowly bringing it back to him. Instead of answering it, however, he stares at the phone and then tosses it away. Time freezes, the phone still in midair, and Josie2 appears in the room. She places the floating Chi Gong ball back in its container inside the telescope, which is open. Speaking to him, she tells him that he has it for a reason and to be more careful. She disappears and time unfreezes. The phone flies into the telescope but misses the ball. Victor glances over at the telescope, catching the floating Chi Gong ball in his view. It quickly craws to it, bring it to his band. Seeing that it is the real thing, he is relieved.
“I don’t suppose I’ll be seeing you again?” – the Janitor to Josie2. v
“You never know.” – Josie2 in response. Episode notes:
So, Josie2 works on Victor's side, as might the Janitor. I didn't like this episode too much. J+V will like this episode. J+L won't have a lot of fun with it. I thought the kiss looked fake. Corrine's anger when she found Vaughn had stolen her plan of the cold fusion reactor was amusing. Rating: 4/10
