This analysis is based on astrological factors only. Note there are some inconsistencies because the year of birth is not known.
In a show that has so much based in astrology (the cards, the guardians, etc), it is logical that we should be able to use astrology to determine how relationships will turn out if the series continues. Here, I compare the Sakura and Li’s astrological Sun signs to their personality that we observe in the show and address any discrepancies as well as whether or not that makes the astrological forecast unreliable. I then go on to how their relationship will be. Sakura is born April 1st and therefore an Aries in the second decanate. Hers is the sign of new beginnings. She is active, energetic, optimistic, impulsive, and likes experience new things. She is known for her courage and hates being tied down. She is ambitious and likes to make the world known where she has been. Others have a tendency to gather around her because of her magnetic personality but she often focuses on herself. Discrepancies: As we all know, Sakura is not the most assertive person around. She is actually rather reserved. Sakura, while willing to experience new things, usually seems to hesitate before doing them. While Sakura can be impulsive when she feels she has something to prove, like to Kero, she is rather calm. Li is born July 13 and therefore a Cancer in the third decanate. He is under the sign of home and early life. Li is sensitive and sympathetic as well as imaginative. He also has an active and intuitive mind. He is happiest when he is around things that are familiar to him. Li prefers to initiate change but is also adaptable. This adaptable quality allows him to be around all kinds of people. However, he likes keeping his emotions, which are very active, to himself, often presenting a hard exterior to those he does not know. Li is loyal and very protective towards his family and friends. When in a pressure situation, Li seeks balance and approaches the problem cautiously. Discrepancies: This actually matches Li pretty well. The only thing that stands out is that Li prefers staying in one location (indicated by him being happiest when around familiar things) but he seems to be very adaptive to move to away from his home at the age of 10. Based on the Sun signs alone, this relationship will not last. If it does, it will be a very difficult one. Sakura and Li are both easily fascinated by each other. After that, it is all downhill. Sakura uses her emotions to quickly make the decisions while Li takes time to think about the decisions. While this could lead to Li bringing stability to Sakura’s decisions, it most likely will result in almost every decision being debated since Li has a tendancy to respond snappishly if he feels he is personally under attack. Li wants to settle down but Sakura would like to explore and move ahead into new experiences. This creates problems in the relationship and they will begin to argue about little things. Li’s cautiousness and protectiveness of Sakura gets in her way of exploration and experimentation and she will eventually find him very restrictive. Sakura’s willingness to try anything, seemingly without thinking it through, worries Li to the point that may make him paranoid. He never learns to get over being jealous of any boy that Sakura is friendly with.
With this, I conclude that Sakura and Li are only together because of their roles in the show, lead female and male character, and fan support. If the two were to meet on another circumstance, things would be very different. However, what we have to understand is that this analysis is based on the Sun signs alone. While that is normally a decisive enough factor, other factors, if good, may have the ability to outweigh the influence of the Sun signs on the relationship. The ship is not dead because the Sun signs are not compatible but it does set it back a lot.
