Hi! How ya doing? Ok, this week's feature is the Official Soundtrack to Disney's Mulan. The new feature animated film by the animators at Disney tells of a tale of a young Chinese girl that conquers cultural and gender barriers to become a heroine in China. At story that has been passed on from generation to generation in China, this 2000 year old story of Mulan is not like any other Disney film. It includes the most breath-taking computer animation and includes great songs. Voices of characters are provided by Ming Na-Wen (Mulan), B.D. Wong (Cpt. Shang) and Leo Solonga (singing voice of Mulan) and Donny Osmond (singing voice of Cpt. Shang). Also appearing are Eddie Murphy who plays the dragon, Mushu, a small dragon sent to aid Mulan in her quest to drive the evil Huns from Chinese territory.
The songs for the movie are not as clean and memorable as say the Lion King or Aladdin. But some songs have their moments such as the stirring song, Reflection sung by Lea Solonga. As wel, 98 Degrees team up with Stevie Wonder is the best song of the album, called True to Your Heat. This is fast, upbeat song that further solidifies my belief that 98 Degrees are one of the best groups in the U.S. today, after BSB of course. But frankly, I love 98 Degrees album and I'm surprised they haven't been more successful. Perhaps with Mulan, 98 Degrees will shoot to the top of the charts.
Go see MULAN! Even though I haven't seen it, I've been told it's really good. Man, I love Mulan, I love this album!!!
