Trade of Live reptiles from Indonesia

A slightly updated version of the paper presented at the Lizard and Snakes Workshop (Sponsored by the German government), Jakarta, 26-27 Nov. 1996
and at the Second World Congress of Herpetology, Adelaide, Australia, 29 Dec. 1993 - 6 Jan. 1994

This is a non-commercial site.
Although I put heavy emphasis on species that are traded, I did not start this site as a trade-promotion gimmick nor will it ever turn commercial. My opinions may not necessarily agree with the general opinions of the organizations I belong to. I do NOT condone illegal and irresponsible behavior, either by dealers/traders in reptiles or by hobbyists. I do NOT intend to sponsor any companies with this page. I don't even link it to my own commercial page. I believe in sustainable use of natural resources and that efforts directed toward stopping ALL trade in wildlife is actually detrimental to the conservation of some species. On the other hand, I also believe that unrestrained trade will also be detrimental to the conservation of some species. There is no simple solution for any species and there certainly is NO common answer for all the world's problems!
