Suan Bua Royal Resident Hall

His Majesty King Chulalongkorn granted the permisson to construct Suan Bua Royal Resident Hall which located in the west of Vimanmek Mansion. The Hall was once the royal residence of Her Highness. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya, one of King Rama V's favourite Consorts.
Princess Saisavali Bhiromya was born on September 4, 1863. She was the daughter of His Royal Highness Prince Ladavalya. Her Highness had on son and three daughters, namely,
- H.R.H. Prince Yugala Dighambara
- H.R.H. Princess Nabhachorn Chamras Sri
- H.R.H. Princess Malini Nobhadara
- H.R.H. Princess Nibha Nobhadol
As the Princess was very skillful in the clinary arts, King Chulalongkorn appointed her to be in charge of the royal kitchen. This made Suan Bua the place where King's meal were prepared.
When the King passed away, Suan Bua Royal Resident Hall was closed down, and at one point Royal Resident Hall in the Dusit Place compound, where Suan Bua is located, came under the supervision of the Royal Thai Army. Most recenty, Thammasat University students were granted permission to use Suan Bua Royal Resident Hall as a dormitory.
On the auspicious of the 72 Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King in 1999 Suan Bua Royal Resident Hall will be re-furbished and transformed into a museum under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Royal Household.
