The Death Railway on the River Kwai.
Kanchanaburi is a province which offers various styles of tourism, ranging from a relaxing trip to the waterfall and staying on the floating homes, to exciting adventures of bamboo-boat logging, bush walking, Elephant ride, or cruising the mountainside at the very east of Thailand on a four-wheel drive.

Being only 129 Kilometers from Bangkok, a 1 1/2 hour drive will take you to Kanchanaburi. There are buses leaving the Southern Bus Terminal every 15 minutes, taking 2 hours. Another popula option is to travel by train, enjoying the scenery along the big mountain and over the River Khwae. The name "Death Track" was given to this railway track during World War II due to the death of the prisoners of war building it . However, the trip is only safe and very pleasurable nowadays. Among Kanchana Buri's main attractions are : The Death Railway or "The Bridge on the River Kwai, Kanchanaburi War Cemetry, Prasat Muang Singh, Sai Yok National Park, Erawan Waterfall in Erawan National Park.
The most distinctive feature in inner Kanchanaburi is the fish-shaped street signs. The locals would explain this by mentioning that the two rivers, Khwae Yai and Khwae Noi, jion together at the province creating a wealth of marine resources. Kung Fish, commonly found in the two rivers, is sweet, soft and likened by so many that it has always been the symbol of Kanchanaburi.

Prasat Muang Singh, the former palace aged over 800 years, around 30 kms. far away from the capital city.
Kanchanaburi is truly blessed with natural resources. Refreshing waterfalls like the Erawan and Huay Kamin waterfalls are very beautiful, while the most famous one is Sai Yok Waterfall within Sai Yok National Park. All year round the water overflows into Kwai Noi River making the place an exquisite natural habitat. For those who love adventures, Sungkalaburi Forest in the Suburb of Sungkalaburi, will have you cruising along Songkalia River before going on an elephant ride, and getting really close to nature
