Wasukri Residence is between Wat Pho by across Chetuphon Road

Wasukri Residence, located in the residential quarter is the Library of the 7th Holiness Prince Patriarch of Rattanakosin Period, Krom Phra Poramanujit Jinoros. The Prince Supreme Patriarch was one of the most famous Thai poets and was honoured by UNESCO as the Great Poet Laureate.
Many of his works are literature for all standard Thai elementary and secondary school students, such as Kritsana Sorn Nong, Lilit Talengpai, etc. One of his famous poems says that we should always behave good so that our good deeds will be remembered forever though our body had been burnt.
Walking all over this monastery you will be fascinated and more educated by many kinds of magnificent creative arts, and the intellectual cultural heritage descended from the ancient Thai ancestors.

The Bell Tower

Tamnak Wasukri
This is sometimes called as the poet's house as it used to be the residence of the poet and Prince Patriarch Poramanujitjinorot. It stands in the living quarters of the monk.
The original name of Prince was Wasukri. He became a novice when he was 12 years old and took residence at Wat Pho where he was ordained. He became the abbot in plce of Somdej Phra Wannarat only two years after becoming a monk.
Krom Somdej Phra Poramanujitjinoros passed away in A.D. 1853., and King Rama IV had his ashes enshrined at Wasukri Mansion in Wat Pho.
At present, Wasukri Mansion has been repaired as a poet's abode. Every year on the 11th of December which was his birthday, the mansion is open to the public after their Majesties the King and the Queen have performed religious rites to commemorate the Prince.
