Rosettes/Tri-Colored

Just what are they?

Rosettes are formed by a darker outline around a lighter center. Very much like the spotting you see on Leopards and Ocelots, they are found on a few subspecies of ALC and are preferred over solid spotting in the spotted pattern of bengals. They give the bengals a more "wild" type appearance and are a Bengal unique trait, not seen in other breeds. While rosettes are preferred, they are not required. Another feature unique to the bengals are glitter, a gold to clear tipping on the hair shafts giving the cat a "glistening" or "gold dusted" appearance.

This is a rosetted F1 kitten.. She is only 5 months in this picture and her rosetting is just starting and it is already outstanding.

Tri-Coloring is when a marble "rosettes" some think it is the same gene others think it is a separate and who knows it may be a combination of genes that gives us the tri-colored marble. They have the darker outline on the lighter center of there patterns and they tend to "fall out" latter in development. It is not to often you see a kitten be tri-colored at birth they tend to fall out around 6 months or so.
