African Violet: Protection. ( The purple-colored flowers and plants are grown in the home to promote spirituality within the home.)
Agrimony:
Protection and Sleep. ( Use
in protection spells and sachets.) Used
to banish negative energies and spirits.
Ague
Root:
Protection. Sprinkle around
your home to keep evil away.
Alfalfa:
Anti-hunger, Money. Keep in
home to protect from poverty and hunger. Burn
alfalfa and scatter the ashes around your property to protect from poverty and
hunger.
Allspice:
Money, Luck and Healing. Burn
in incense to attract money or luck.
Almond:
Money Prosperity and Wisdom.
Aloe:
Protection and Luck. The
plant is good for protection and to guard against evil influences.
Alyssum:
Moderating Anger.
Placed in hand or on body to cool down anger.
Angelica:
Exorcism, Protection and Healing. Use
in protection incense. Sprinkle the
four corners of the house to ward off evil, or do around the perimeter of the
house.
Anise:
Protection, Purification, and Youth.
Use in protection and meditation incense.
Place anise seeds in hot bath for purification.
Apple:
Love, Healing, and Garden Magick. Add
blossoms to sachets and incense for love. (
For healing, cut an apple into three pieces, rub each piece on affected part of
the body, and then bury them. Do
this during the waning Moon to banish illnesses.)
(For gardening, pour cider onto freshly-turned earth to give it life
before planting.)
Wiccan
altars are often piled high with apples on Samhain for the apple is considered
as one of the foods of the dead. In
Wiccan traditions, the apple is a symbol of the soul, and so they are buried on
Samhain so that those, who will be reborn in the spring will have food during
the cold winter months.
Avocado:
Love and Beauty. (Grow a plant from the pit of and avocado in your home to
bring love into it.) Carry the pit
to promote beauty.
Basil:
Love, Exorcism, Wealth, and Flying Protection.
(Basil brings wealth to those who carry it in their pockets.)
Also to attract customers in a place of business by putting a leaf in the
cash register drawer. Basil given
as a gift brings good luck to a new home.
Bay
Leaf:
Protection, Psychic Powers, Healing, Purification and Strength.
(Bay Leaf is used in clairvoyance and wisdom brews.)
Bay leaves placed underneath a pillow will induce prophetic dreams.
Wishes are written on bay leaves which are then burned to make them come
true.
Benzoin:
Purification and Prosperity. Burn
Benzoin to purification incenses. Make
an incense of benzoin, cinnamon and basil, and burn to attract customers to your
place of business. Often used as a
base for incenses.
