A poppet is a doll you make with the intentions you decide, whether it be for healing or protection, or whatever other purpose you decide to use it for.

Materials:
Cloth (something that doesnt unravel)
batting
embroidery or marking pens to put designs on the outside of it
herbs for stuffing
something personal from the person which you are making it for.


1) Cut out the shape of a small doll, I tried this free hand did not get exactly what I wanted. Would suggest getting a small stuffed doll cut out for this.
2) Mark the outside with either embroider floss or ink or what ever you wish. Mark the doll with the male or female markings. To personalize it I use the moon signs for that person also the zodiac symbol for them also. I draw in a face, eyes, ears, hair, mouth, etc.
3) Then start to sew it closed.. until the head. This you leave open for the herbs you have choosen for stuffing the doll with.


I made one for a friend that was going to have surgery on her ear. I used herbs that would protect and heal her. I also used a clipping of her hair. I combined the herbs and then took it to my alter. I drew my circle and then proceeded to empower my poppet with healing and protection that she would do well in the surgery and would recover from it. Since she was having surgery I drew in the place where they would be operating and then marked it as it was closed.. I learned much in making my first poppet. But I found myself really focusing so much on doing this for a friend it was very satifying even with all the small mistakes in the poppet I made. As for my friend, she did well with the surgery.
