It seems that amphibians of many species, the world over, are having a hard time at the hands of umans. I have 4 European Fire Salamanders of the family Salamandridae. I have always had a 'love affair !' with newts and salamanders, I find them fascinating. I used to catch great crested (Triturus cristatus) and smooth newts (T. vulgaris) as a boy i ponds in my native Worcestershire. Great Crested newts are sadly a threatened species in Britain now. Tiger salamanders are available from my local pet shop - hopefully not wild caught wild specimens from New Jersey ! - or anywhere else for that matter. Please feel free to e-mail me. I am a naturalist with "herps" as an avocation. My primary work in S.C. has been with bog turtles and eastern diamondback rattlesnakes along with the S.C. DNR. Easterns a e fantastic and many have been radio equipped for year round study and study. Bog turtles were found in S.C. in 1980 for the first time by yours truly.
