In the year B.E. 2509 (A.D. 1966), when His Majesty the King became aware of the excess milk
problem that many dairy farmers faced owing to the still limited market for milk consumption, he
graciously initiated the construction of a powdered-milk plant within the grounds of Chitlada
Villa, Dusit Palace. The plant which was opened on December 7th. B.E. 2512 (A.D. 1969) was
relatively small and built at a low cost so that it could easily be duplicated by any group of
dairy farmers.
