The Life of a witch

WItchcraft is a path of constent learning and expeirimentation. It is a way of life, a religion & a Craft. Within the ages of old Witchs were the wise women living on the outskirts of the village. Poeple would seek them out for their aid in the healing arts. These women used their knowledge of herblore to heal the sick, mend wounds, and aid the pregnancies of the village women. They were summound for advice and predictions on agriculture, money, health, and relations. Witchcraft today still has its familiarities with the witches of long ago. We still keep up the knowledge of herblore and the healing arts. Some practice different typs of energy work Like Rieki or Chakra attunement. There are some working in the pysican or psychological fields. All over the world poeple still go to the “Witch doctor for help” before they go to the doctors of today (within hospitals) ie.. Haiti, Virgin Islands, Native Amaricans, & many counrties in aisia the list could go on and on. The point is that Witchcraft is a fact. It is not a myth of which its existence is constantly disputed by anthropologists.

The craft is not an organized religion, for there are many ways to practice it and it is entirerly up to the indivigual. Even covens differ from each other. Where there is formal organiztitaions such as the COG (Covanent of the Goddess) or Reclaiming, it is for tax & legal reasons or for example, enough to support a variety of publications of an ever-growing body of literature, not for dogmatic uniformity or the numbering of members. I believe that this is one of seveal reasons that people are attracted to the occult. The fact that the occult is a form of spirituality and a science is an attraction to people as well. None the less Witchcraft has evolved into somthing bigger and more complex than what it used to be. As do all things, magick has a need to evolve in order to progess.

The Eclectic practice

I have Mentioned that there are many ways to practice the craft, If you do a little bit of anthropological research you will find that all over the world there is some sort of magickal history or practice within every culture. In this Eclectic live/style I study and practice a variety of the whole, Meaning I look at the many cultures than pick and choose differnt ideals and styles of ritual, lore and magick some times I add a little of my own personal twist then add it to my melting caudron of practice. It has been said that the differnce between a witch & a Wiccan is tradition. I agree with this statment, but not in the idea that it has to be the traditions of old. That idea is partly the reason I am writting these pages I have built my own practice and tradition. Yes it is based on both old and new practices some of my own design, But all things must evolve. This book is entended for anyone that wishes to learn about a sect of witchcraft that was designed with the intentions of one being able to practice a tradition with an open mind (not saying that others have not.) this is for those who like to enjoy a little bit of tour le monde (all the world) & not feel restricted to just one culture.

Solitary Vs. Coven

How will I practice is a question that every person starting this path will ask themselves. Some decide that they are more attuned to nature or focused when alone betweeen the worlds. Some like the company of fellow witches within the circle or on sabbats. This does not mean that if you choose to go solitary that you are bound by law to not asociate with other witches on the sabbats or other rituals it just means that you are not a part of a collective of practioners that follow one set of lore, ritual, & nature of doing things. Many witches start off as a solitary practictioner for several years then finds a coven that suits his/her belief structre. I have been in and liked both situations. I am currently a solitary practioner because I no longer live in the same state as my coven members But we still stay in contact. We still do practice together when we visit each other. I really enjoyed the time we had with each other. We would have tarot and rune workshops to strengthn the skills of the lesser experienced in the coven. We did this with everything be it books, herblore, scrying, & energy work ect... I miss those things at times but I make up for them in bookstudies with other solitaries or discution groups online.

Please feel free to write me back in my guestbook if you have any comments or questions write them there and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
