10:04a - "Official" Training Hike #1
I say official only because, while we've been rucking every week as part of PT, I've never recorded stats...

All stats are approximations. I have plenty enough time to train so I don't need to be real anal ;)

Distance: 6 miles
Elevation Change 150 feet
Time of Day 0600
Temperature 80F
Humidty 95
Water Consumed 35oz
Weight 60lbs
Time 1 hour 35 minutes

Notes:
It was STICKY this morning. I started off a little dehydrated and ended REALLY dehydrated. I think I may have to recalculate my daily water consumption requirements. I was estimating 64oz. The climate here is a serious factor though and probably requires more water than the trail will...I will need to keep appraising that issue.

My shoulders felt a bit sore towards the end but once I have a "real" pack (i.e. commercially produced backpack vs. the military rucksack I have now) with a suspension system and waist belt that will be a non issue--particually since my shoulders will probably be able to handle the burden for 20+ miles a day just fine by that point anyway!

My feet feel great and I feel full of energy, so that's a good thing :)
I'm thinking I will probably buy another pair of jungle boots as the pair I'm using now are wearing down. I have another pair, brand new and already broken in...but I want to have an extra pair, broken in, for the trail.

Either Friday after work or Sunday I will do a ten miler.

current mood: pumped
