Ned's Atomic Dustbin Are you Normal?
04.27.98
It's early, 12:19AM...a bit more left over from last night I just wanted to touch on before I went to sleep...interrupted by a cigarette rolling break (ick)...and now it's the next day, today...
Picked up some blank analogs today at the local record shop--needed 'em for Spank...also picked upa used Ned's Atomic Dustbin disc...I'd had them recommended to me by Chris Ryan back when I was working at LTGC! Picked up a single in Maui and wanted more (I know, sometimes I'm slow...waiting four years like that...), hey at $4.99 it was an easy impulse buy...I like it a lot.
Spank needs to record some horns for their demos...I told
them I played trumpet once but suck and don't have the time or the motivation
to join the band at this point...but I just wanna pick it up for a few
nights to lay down some blips for the demos....It's pulling at me, that
lug o brass is (said affectionately, mind you.) It's succeeded a few times
in the last couple days...I wish I had some damn sheet music to learn though...terrible
at imrov/playing by ear (which is another reason I suck for jazz/funk music)
"I waste nobodies time but my own
Well it's mine to waste so let it go
My childhood inspection
Is my record collection
And sometimes need to feel grown
You've got your head up your ass
To keep yourself covered
You trip up the past, trip over your mother
How come?
How come I think you're capable
That's bad enough
I need a kick in the ass
To stop feeling smothered
Look at the past. Look down to discover
How come?
How come I feel incapable
My childhood obsession
It's my record collection
So what makes us so squeaky clean?
If we're food for worms that's not my scene"
