Hair shaved, big fun -- had to sweep my own hair. I look tweaky w/o hair. Then to the mini PX to buy basic necessities -- extra soap, boot polish, etc. Nice to be wearing boots again -- once they were issued around noon -- after lunch. The food is a notch above J food, but not a huge notch. The 1st Sergeant razzed me for having my hands in my pockets and worse me for calling him "sir". BTW got to base about 11PM last night, waited about 30 min for people to realize we were there...
Tried shining my boots after talking w/ Dad on the phone briefly at 1700 my time 5 PM his...mom wasn't home yet. They did come and get my car -- Dad said he talked to the guy for a bit.
SO far, the military has been OK...seems a cross between summer camp and dormitory life.
Didn't have time to finish my boots -- they made us go inside and no shining boots inside.
Have fire guard from 0200 to 0300... at least get to sleep in till 0545 tomorrow, saturday.
Lights out is soon so hafta cut out.
