  • Rivaldo’s career began as he joined Paulista at the young age of 17.

  • Rivaldo then moved to Santa Cruz and throughout the following two years he was transferred to two other clubs. Firstly he went to Mogi Mirim in 1992 and then joined Corinthians one year later.

  • Rivaldo signed up with Palmeiras in 1994 and stayed with them for the two following seasons, instantly sending them to the top of the Brazilian league. They became the Brazilian champions for the first time in 1994 and then the Paulista champions in 1996.

  • Rivaldo made a vital contribution to the Palmeiras team during the 1996 Paulista league season enabling them to dominate the league due to their 17 wins out of 18 matches. This meant that they had, largely due to Rivaldo’s efforts, achieved a streak of 30 unbeaten matches. Rivaldo scored five key goals, which led the Palmeiras team to the Libertadores Cup quarterfinals in 1995.

    Rivaldo moved to Deportivo La Coruna in 1996 where he scored 30 goals in 30 games.
