hello everybody!i am so excited now, because i got so many emails from you...thank you so much!the last few days have been really crazy! way too much happened, there'sno way i can put it all in here, so i am writing it all down and sending it out a while later. maybe i'll put it on the net or something. i guess for now i will just say that we had an adventure unlike any so far. it involved landslides, waterfalls, biking through ankle deep mud, more bike problems, being caught in the open with no shelter over our heads to sleep under, and finally being filmed by a camera crew.  all this in a day and ahalf that seemed a lot longer, yet left us in good spirits nevertheless.the adrenaline rush we experienced also seemed to temporarily cure ed ofhis stomach problems. other than that, we have been riding a lot through some stunning scenery, that has led me to feel that nothing could be wrong with the world. untili remembered a guy we saw on the street in a town in china. he was aroundmy age, and had no feet, so he was walking on his knees helping himselfwith two walking sticks, one in each hand. he had many rags wrapped aroundeack knee as padding. when i saw him, he was crossing a busy intersectionon his knees, in the middle of this crazy city that didn't seem to takeany notice of him. i have that image stuck in my head and it comes back atunexpected times.if anyone's looking for something to read, try demian by herman hesse. ireally liked it, although it made me introspect a bit too much (again!).this happens quite a bit and is the source of much restlessness as youknow, but it's also unavoidable, why else would i keep doing it? therewere a few thigs i didn't like about the book, but overall i would sayit's definitely worth reading. i am having email problems, and i'm afraid it will crash so i will leaveyou here. thank you again for all the messages, i always love readingthem! Raluca

in response to some of your emails, i forgot to write that as part of ouradventure yet to be told, ed and i did end up building a tandem bike outof our individual bikes. it held togehter, but the balancing act was hell.the whole thing attracted a huge crowd, amongst the largest we've had sofar, and caused me much embarassment. i don't think we'll be tandeming anytime soon...unless we really have to.
