Moslems were extremely interested in the art of calligraphy in thier rich age;
with no difference between thier high or lower classes .
They also took it as a means and a high art,
using it to qualify thier wonderfull wisdoms and proverbs.
It had different shapes and kinds that reached forty kinds in the Abbassian age.
Ebn Moqlaa joined these kindes and extracted six in the Abbassian age:Tholoth,Simple,Basil,Hanging,Positive and Patched.

It's a miracle of arabic
handwriting .
it'sknown as "the master of handwriting" because of the thickness of the pen .
It was called also "the sublime",then "Tholothen" , then
"nesf"
at last "tholoth".
It has two kinds:
1- Normal:It's writen with 3 cms thick at most'
and it's used to write the names of composed books , the begining of Koran's suras , parts
of books , and Potrays in house.
2-Clear: It was called so for its biggness . It is used in writing signs , advertisments and in decoratings mosques and other scripts used in them .
As its name shows,it is a kind of Arabic handwriting used in writing governmental orders and publication of divans .First,it was a secret of palaces in the Turkish reign .This handwriting has the merit of complete flexibility and bending rather than any other kind.
It's a kind of arabic handwriting developed by persian artists, so it was
ascribed to them.
It is charactrised by three things.
1- It is not mixed with anyother letters from other kinds.
2- It doesn't have grammatical or decorative signs.
3- It took the dayte as an ornamentation means.
It was known as
such for being ascribed to koufi as it spread there . It has two kinds: quora'n koufi and
fatemi koufi.
Koufi handwriting proved that Arabic handwriting is the best for ornamentation. It lasted
as a model of arabic arts beauty.

It appeared recently after being stuck to
painters who were efficient in writing with original Arabic handwriting.It was in
advertisements and modern decoration . And it is not proper in writing holy qura'n verses.
