I noticed this morning that the calendar in the kitchen is still showing October. It's one of those with little pieces that you move around..... I suppose there are several reasons I haven't changed that calendar........
1. Just plain over-site?
2. I like the little pumpkin and ghosty pieces?
3. There isn't a turkey piece for November?
4. Ok, it's probably that I'm just lazy..... or.........
More than likely I'm just trying to hang on to October....... The chilly weather.... warm enough to avoid the dreaded 'winter coat' but, chilly enough for those warm fuzzy sweatshirts... preferably with a hood!
When we, the gang, were in elementary school and Junior High school we weren't interested in HS football games on Friday/Saturday nights... we were concerned with seeing how long we could get our parents to let us run around outside after dark. We'd protest.... Just because it got darker sooner shouldn't mean we couldn't play past 8:00 pm anymore......
After all, it's so much more fun to play hide and seek in the dark. And we were avid Hide and Seekers! We used the neighbor's yard to play. He had three levels.... had awesome trees to climb and every so often we'd get on his roof. The lake and the road served as natural out-of-bounds.
Boy we played hard! Scrapes and bruises... Hide and Seek, if played at it's highest level, is a tough game! We even had our own bottle of bactine, BOB, we called it. We'd keep it in my parent's garage so that we could get to it without alarming any grown ups. Sometimes there was a lot of blood! After all.... hide and seek is a rough game!
Get the BOB... you'd hear... knowing that either Doug fell off the roof or Aaron bit it on the landing jumping between terraces... or, they'd all smeared me into the ground chasing me to home base! The Safety Tree - pffft. It was great fun to smear the "only" girl into the ground everyonce in a while.... keep her (or me in this case) in her place!
All the smearing they did you would think I could handle just about anything life hands me! Hm.... I noticed I don't have any bactine in my medicine cabinet. Maybe that's it... Maybe I should buy a bottle.... just in case.....
Hmm.... I miss Hide and Seek.... I miss the gang.... guess i'll just snuggle up here in my apartment with my warm, fuzzy sweats on - no hood though..... bummer.
kisses for you.......... jami
