Hijacked Labour.
The auto breaks down. It has run out of petrol. Watch this. The auto driver commandeers a passenger to turn the corner to get him some petrol. He doesn't pick me. I look foreign. The poor man walks down the corner. This is the Indian attitude. He does not refuse. He does it. It is not his business nor will he make any money out of it. He returns empty handed. The attendant has no petrol to sell.
The auto driver hails the next auto that passes by and asks him for some petrol. Passengers on both autos wait while one driver siphons petrol from his auto to give to the other. Our auto comes alive as soon as the petrol is put in. Then they both drive off in different directions. No thanks. No promise of repayment. Nothing. Amazing.
99 percent.
The Delhi - Kulu Manali - Delhi driver proclaims that 99 percent of his relatives are crooks. He tells the story of his aunt who was swindled of land by her brother, the nephew who swindled his father of his land. I am hard put to verify if the tales are real or just put up to while away the time while driving.
The next day, he is back. He claims that he charged 500 rupees less and his boss is furious. He will lose his job. He has a family to feed. He gets his 500 rupees.
Make that 100 percent.
