If you had played Lylat Wars on the Nintendo 64, then most people would know what I mean when I say I cant wait for this game to come out. As soon as i heard Rare had taken the Starfox license from Nintendo, and combined it with Donosaur Planet, I knew this game was a must buy. GAMEPLAY Starfox Adventures is a humongous 3D adventure/ RPG featuring Fox McCloud, the star of Lylat Wars. It is a Zelda style game (I promise not to compare it with Zelda, because i know it will be better) that has the player working towards defeating General Scales (must be the game's boss.) Throughout your adventure you won't be alone as you will have most of your pals from Lylat Wars and a few new important charachters. Slippy, has retired to weapon technology, Peppy who has also retired to a job in mission support and Rob the Robot, in case you need stuff for your missions. Falco has yet to be seen or heard of, but i have a sneaking suspicion that he will play a major part in this game. The new charachters that you will come across in your adventures include Krystal, a mysterious female who was captured by an unknown force, your new cheeky sidekick Prince Tricky, and heaps more that you will meet in this very promising title. Dinosaur Planet is filled with danger, so Fox will need something to help him, and this is where his trusty shaft comes in. His shaft can help him to morph into a wide range of animals, and can also be used as a sort of laser firing gun (don't ask me what to call it) which looks real awesome. Starfox has a deep engaging storyline, and this game looks like helping me fail Grade 11 if I get it when it comes out in Australia next year. GRAPHICS From what I heard at E3, the graphics in Starfox Adventures Dinosaur Planet were really impressive. Some people said that they cintained alot of bugs, but it was only a demo, and this is Rare were talking about here. The realistic effects from the movies on igncube.com are the most stunning I've ever seen in a video game. They are so realistic!!. The ripples in the water are almost perfect looking, the trees sway like real, shifting shadows, rain effects, real time lighting, etc. The trees, bushes, buildings, people, the faces on the charachters is amazing. The levels where Fox flies his Arwing are said to be the most stunning, and it cant be believed how good they look until you see them yourself. I suggest you check them out at either Rare or IGN. SOUND There is not much to be said about sound in Starfox. I was watching a movie of Starfox and i could hear the wind blowing through the trees, the sounds of the dinosaurs as Fox wasted them, and the water as it was splased was stunning. You can trust Rare to give us good sound, and they are also excellent in the music department. Expect SFA to have fully orchestrated music just as all Rare's other game's do that will blow you away. OUTLOOK Starfox Adventures is one of the games that I would die for. It is going to be excellent, and my anticipation for this game can only be outdone by Perfect Dark 2. It's looking good for all us Nintendo/Rare fanatics. Go Rare. Anticipation Rating: 98/100 |
