Why Hair Thins
In the U.S. alone, there are approximately 40
million men and 20 million women that are
affected by hair loss, also known as
androgenetic alopecia. There are many theories
to why hair loss occurs, which include; genes,
illnesses, medications, internal and external
toxins, DHT, aging and stress. With these
theories have come many antidotes, cures, and
many 'snake oils'. However, a definite cause and
cure have yet to be seen.
The solutions that have proved to work in
some people, and to some degree, are items
such as minoxidil and finasteride products,
supplements, DHT blockers, and laser therapy.
There is also solutions that merely mask the
problem, such as hair transplants and wigs. So
while these solutions have shown different
degrees of success, they are missing a very
important, and perhaps vital key element to hair
growth and a healthy scalp, and that being
'blood flow'. If the hair and scalp are not getting
blood and its nutrients, it can't grow. If the hair
and scalp are getting a reduced blood flow, do to
some restriction, the hair will grow at a reduced
pace.
Hair Loss
How the HairSling came about
After much time and thought into why hair loss
occurs, I came to the conclusion that hair loss can
occur because of a progressive restriction of blood
circulation to the scalp and hair follicles. This is due
to the scalp being pulled back and downwards,
toward the back of the head and sides of the head.
The result is a reduction of blood through the veins
in the scalp to promote a healthy scalp and hair.
When the scalp shifts backwards and downwards,
toward the neck, the blood vessels in the scalp can
become kinked, stretched, or smothered. Why does
this happens? The true culprit of androgenetic
alopecia is yet to be determined. One can think of it
as a cause and effect; the cause-not really known,
the effect-thinning of the scalp hair. So all products,
including the HairSling, work on the effect and not
the cause.
Through my personal research and tests that I
have done in relation to androgenetic alopecia, the
results are very consistent; people with full and
healthy heads of hair have elasticity and 'give' in
their front hairline and scalp, whereas the people
with thinning hair did not. So that's where the idea
for the HairSling came about. The idea of creating
something that would push the scalp forward, to
alleviate the stress on the many veins suppling
blood to the scalp and hair. So through many ideas
and models, the HairSling was born.
