Not the Happiest Day of My Life It was Bulma’s birthday. Around a dozen years after Son Goku’s death. Bulma was to turn 75. Seventy-five years old. She hated thinking about it.
Bulma Briefs looked up at the gray sky; the gloomy weather claimed it would rain soon. She stood lone in the porch, pondering. Having much time to herself, she has been looking back at her life a little bit. Krillin-kun and Son-kun had passed away already, she wondered if she would soon join their fate. As much as she hated to admit it, she was getting older day by day.
And she didn’t like one bit of it.
Son Goku- whom she called Son-kun, was alone in the forest. The first female and human he ever met was Bulma. It came from a point where Goku didn’t know what a girl was, to when he found out he wasn’t human, and then learning about SSJ, and hell, up to SSJ4.
Those were the days; she was so young... She had met Yamcha, and the two thought they were meant for each other, and that they would spend their lives together. When Vegeta came, and she bore his son, Yamcha wasn’t around at all. She hadn’t talked to him in years.
::drop:: It starts to lightly rain, and then pours. Completely soaked, Bulma walks inside her large, fancy home. Earlier that morning there had been a short family party for Bulma. Just with Vegeta, Trunks, and Bra. Her children gave her their presents, although it was hard to get her something because it seemed she had everything one could want. After the small jubilee, her children all left. Bra whom now was always at some party, Trunks had CC work to do as much as he hates it, and Vegeta went off to no one knows where. He has been leaving a lot since Kakkorotto died. As much as he hates to admit it, he misses Goku a lot, as does everyone.
Seeking to dry herself, Bulma gets a small green towel and takes off her glasses. Drying her hair she looks outside still. She loved the rain. Losing herself in pointless thought, Bulma was back in reality when the phone rang. Bulma couldn’t see who would call, at this time of day, the house was always empty, lifeless, and boring. When she picked up, to say the least, she was happy for the first time in months.
"Hello?"
"Is this Bulma?"
"Ch-ChiChi?" Bulma nearly dropped the phone. The Sons and Briefs hadn’t talked to each other at all since Son-kun passed away.
"You bet. I can’t forget your birthday, now could I?" A tear found its way to Bulma’s eye. The two old friends had talked for hours on end about the past couple years on the phone. They each apologized for fighting, they did that a lot before Son-kun had died. Bulma hardly noticed Vegeta come home she was so excited with talking to ChiChi. After ChiChi had to go, Bulma told her she would visit the Son house the next day. When she hung up, Bulma just realized that Vegeta was sitting next to her.
"Can I help you Vegeta?"
"What the hell is wrong with you woman? I can’t stand how annoying it is with you moping around." the question came out a little bit crueler than Vegeta had intended. What amazed Bulma more was she thought she was happy because she had talked to ChiChi, it had been a long time since the two friends had last chatted. Bulma also knew Vegeta meant well.
"Well, I’m getting old," Bulma looked more closely at Vegeta. She never knew his age, but she did know that Saiy-jin age slower than human. Probably live longer too.
"Vegeta, what is the average life span of Saiy-jin?" She rested her head against him and closed her eyes. She never realized how tired she felt. "Oh god, I am getting older…" Now she couldn’t even have as much energy! How revolting!
"Not more of this aging thing…" Vegeta whined, but he still played around with her hair. "I want at least one of us to be around for Trunks and Bra as they get older. I don’t think I’m going to be able to live too much longer." Bulma forced the words out. She wanted to see her children grow up and get married.
Now it was Vegeta’s turn to be shocked. As if losing Kakkorotto wasn’t bad enough, (he never told anyone how he felt about that) what if Bulma left him as well? He held her closer. The thought wouldn’t leave his mind. He didn’t even know how old Bulma was, even though she constantly fret about it, Vegeta never took her seriously. There was no way in hell she could die. Never. She wouldn’t…

Bulma stared outside her window at the beautiful day that bestowed upon her. She didn’t want to spend her entire life just working in Capsule Corp, the work could kiss her ass. The bright blue sky and shining sun tempted her too much. She decided she would skip work for that day.
‘Great, now I sound like Trunks’ she thought. She decided to change her look once more, possibly her last. She had her aqua down, her long bangs on either side of her. She decided on a casual look, a white blouse with jeans.
Bulma decided to go for a ride. She popped out a motorcycle capsule and hopped on. "Full speed ahead!" she smiled as she went to top speed, driving to Dende knows where.
It felt great to have the wind madly blowing across her pale face, swaying her hair in every direction possible. The sun shining at her back, the sky cloudless. Bulma stopped at the middle of some forest. She recognized it immediately. Right near where she found Son-kun. Bulma laughed at the memory. She was so desperate for his dragon ball she offered for him to touch her underwear. Smiling to herself, Bulma decided to go to the Son house, and talk to ChiChi as she promised.

Vegeta was in a panic. Where the hell is she? Bulma was gone. He, due to her recent talk of being old, was worried out of his mind. He tried the "telephone" and went to the automatic numbers for his kids.
"Hello! Capsule Corp, how can I help you?" Came an answer.
"Boy, do you know where your mother is?" Vegeta demanded in his usual way.
"Oh, hi dad, no, I don’t…" before Trunks could do anything else, he had been hung up on. "O…Kay…." Trunks decided that if his mom wasn’t around anywhere, she couldn’t scold him for not working. "What the hell, I’m 30 years old and still a bachelor, I KNOW something isn’t right here." Trunk flew out the window of his office.

"Hello?" Bra answered thinking it was her boyfriend.
"Do you know where your mother is?" Vegeta was becoming very irritated.
"Hey daddy! Nope, I have no clue-" Vegeta hung up on her.
"Hmmm, wonder what’s wrong…" her thinking was interrupted from a call from her boyfriend. Mom could wait until later.

"Damnit! Where the hell is she?" Vegeta decided the only way he’d find Bulma was if he done it himself. He flew out the nearest window the start his wild chase.

"So, how is everyone? Trunks, Bra, Vegeta…" the conversation was never-ending. Bulma and ChiChi were actually talking lot more than they ever had, but Bulma had to go.
"Speaking of Vegeta, I think I have to go home, but we’ll talk later, right?" Bulma got up to go to the door.
"Oh, yea!" ChiChi got up to bit her guest farewell.
"One thing ChiChi-"
"Yes?" ChiChi looked at her suspiciously.""
"Me too." Bulma went outside and popped out her capsule to go home, it was pitch black outside, with a chilly breeze. Bulma again was at top speed, knowing it would take about 45 minutes to an hour before she would get home.

"Fuck! Where is she?" Vegeta had been searching for two hours. It then hit him that she was talking to Kakkoroto’s mate the other day.
"Damnit! Of course!" Vegeta went to the Son’s direction immediately. TO his surprise, he didn’t find Bulma at all. He knocked on the door, maybe Kakkoroto’s loud and obnoxious wife knew where she was.
"Hello? Vegeta! What’s wrong?" ChiChi invited him in, but he declined.
"Where is she?" Vegeta forgot all manners, (as if he had any,) and ChiChi was not happy about it, but shrugged.
"She’s gone. Left about an hour ago. You mi-" Vegeta flew off. "How rude! What does Bulma see in the stuck-up freak?" ChiChi closed the door behind her.

"Woman!" Vegeta flew back to Capsule Corp. to see Bulma relaxing on the couch watching TV.
"Oh, hey Vegeta, where were you?" she said, not really taking her eyes off the TV.
"I could ask you the same thing," Vegeta snorted, but jumped in the spot next to Bulma anyway.
"Are you telling me you actually missed me? That’s new…" she smiled knowing she had again the upper hand.
"Hmph…" Vegeta grunted, but kissed Bulma’s forehead anyway.
"Just don’t do that again…" he added.
"Is Trunks home? Haven’t heard from him…" Bulma knew the answer. "You know, he asked me recently what I did at his age, knowing that it wasn’t CC work." Bulma smiled. " the truth was I went through the galaxy, got stuck on a planet I thought was namek with Krillin-kun and Gohan, then went to Namek to see Freiza and all the Ginyu Force. After that I finally came home and hosted a hotel for Namek’s and a Saiy-jin. But I just told him I was a busy girl." Bulma giggled a little. "I wonder if he has found a date tonight…" she knew very well that he more than likely was off scooping women.
Vegeta smiled a little, but he didn’t want a low-class human for a "daughter-in-law," as Bulma once called it. The door slammed shut.
"Woo-hoo!" Trunks yelled happily.
"Don’t tell me, you finally found a date?" Bulma remarked.
"Hey, don’t rub it in! There’s a lot to chose from plus, I want a real marriage, unlike two people I know," Trunks shot back sarcastically. The "two people" were his parents. Bulma smiled, although Vegeta wasn’t too happy about it.
"Want to spar it out?" he challenged his son, nearly grinning.
"Yes! I need a good spar!" Trunks flew to the backyard where the gravity room was. Vegeta was right after him, leaving Bulma alone in her living room watching some show she didn’t know. She turned off the TV and went up to her room. About to lie down on her soft, comfy bed, Bulma noticed something. In a minute corner of the room there was a box of some old pictures she never got to organize. On the very top, there was a picture of her, Krillin-kun, and Son-kun, posing for the picture. Bulma never noticed this picture before, much less on the top of the large pile. She took the picture in her frail hand and studied it.
She was posing in a bathing suit on the right side, holding a gun with her right hand. Son-kun was in the middle, being his usual self and smiling. Krillin was jumping in the air happy about something. Bulma smiled, and put it next to her dresser to look at later.

Bulma woke up to Vegeta sleeping next to her, quietly, as usual. She would need to get ready for work in a half-hour, a board meeting was to take place. She got some clothes on, her ID, and something to eat. She stopped by her room to make sure she didn’t leave anything behind, and she saw the picture. She picked it up, knowing what to do with it.
"Bye Vegeta, see you later" she said knowing her was awake the entire time.
"…" Vegeta just groaned, not really wanting to wake up.
Bulma went outside in a capsule car instead to work, to a place she rarely visited.
A graveyard.
There they were, two tombstones right next to each other, Krillin-kun and Son-kun. Bulma smiled, a tear down her eye. She put the picture in between to two graves.
"I miss you guys." She then left, not for long though. "I bet you’re having fun up there… wherever you may be…"

It was cold… so cold…
Bulma woke up. She had a feeling, a feeling as if to say good bye. Her entire body was shaking.
She was wise enough to know what this probably meant. Bulma got up, knowing what she wanted to do. She quietly got out of bed, and didn’t wake up Vegeta. She crept out and walked all the way to her sons’ quarters. She unlocked his door easily; it was his supposed ‘new, impossible to break into lock.’
‘Still has a lot to learn….’ She thought, smiling inside. She crept in, even though she promised not to. He was in his boxers on his bed, stretched out and exhausted. Bulma walked over to him, and remembered those years raising him… from diapers to this. She smiled and kissed him on his forehead.
"I’m proud of you, Trunks," she softly cooed, and left his room, leaving the door as if it were untouched. She then knew her next destination- he daughters room.
It was covered in posters of music groups, such as Backstreet Boys, Nsync, and others Bulma didn’t really care much about, but she knew her daughter did. She kissed her on the forehead as well.
"You’ll grow up to be a fine woman, sweet heart. I know your father will take good care of you." She whispered in her ear, and left. She sighed, knowing the last thing she may do in her life as a mortal. She slowly, but surely, made her way upstairs, back to her room. There slept Vegeta, almost soundly. Bulma walked up to their bed, and lied down once more. She leaned over and kissed Vegeta one last time." "I love you all," she said nearly asleep…for the last time.
