PRINTS IN THE SAND

One night I had a wondrous dream,
One set of footprints there were seen,
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were not along the shore.

But then some stranger prints appeared,
And I asked the Lord, "What have we here?"
Those prints are large and round and neat,
"But Lord, they are too big for feet."

"My child," He said in somber tones,
"For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait."

"You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of faith, you would not know,
So I got tired, I got fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt."

"Because in life, there comes a time,
When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave their butt prints in the sand."

Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done?
For this...the last battle...can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so,
When the time comes...please let me go.
Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
Only...stay with me until the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree,
It is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you,
Who has decided this thing to do,
                                We've been so close...we two...these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

I got to the gate of Heaven yesterday,
                                After we said good bye,
I began to miss you terribly,
                                Because I heard you cry.
                                Suddenly there was an Angel,
And she asked me to enter Heavens gate,
I asked her if I could stay outside and wait
                                For someone who'd be late,
I wouldn't make much noise you see,
                                I wouldn't bark or howl,
                                I'd only wait here patiently,
And play with my tennis ball.
The Angel said I could stay right here,
And wait for you to come,
Because Heaven just wouldn't be Heaven,
                                If I went in alone.
So, I'll wait here, you take your time.
Because Heaven just wouldn't be Heaven,
Without you to warm my heart.

If Tomorrow Never Comes

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
And pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
That I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and a kiss
And call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video each action and work,
So that I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare a minute or two,
To stop and say "I love you"
Instead of assuming you would know I do.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
So I can let just this one slip away.

                               For surely there's always tomorrow
To make up for an oversight,
And we always get a second chance
                               To make everything all right.

There will always be another day
To say our "I love you's:,
                               And certainly there's another chance
To say our "Anything I can do's?"

But just in case I might be wrong
And today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
And I hope you never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
                               Young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance you get
To hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
                               Why not do it today?
                               For if tomorrow never comes,
                               You'll surely regret the day.

That you didn't take that extra time
For a smile, a hug, or a kiss,
And you were too busy to grant someone
What turned out to be their last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
                               Whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
And that you'll always hold them dear.

Take time to say "I'm sorry",
"Please forgive me", "Thank you", or "It's okay"
                               And if tomorrow never comes
You'll have no regrets about today.

Rascal Billy Bob

                               I have this little pup
                               That's driving me insane
                               He's always into trouble
                               Sometimes he's just a pain!

                               Billy Bob the rascal
Keeps us always on our toes
Do not bend over if he's near
He'll goose you with his nose!

                               Don't lay down your glasses
If you ever want to see
Young Billy Bob will hide them
And you'll hollar just like me.

                               Forget about your hobbies
                               I'd planned to read today
But Billy Bob has brought his ball
                               He'll pester till I play.

                               When Billy Bob is sleeping
He looks so sweet and cute
As in my lap he snuggles
He blasts me with a toot.

                               My eyes begin to water
                               My face is turning green
                               My husband sits there laughing
                               Young Billy Bob's so mean!

Why do we put up with this pup
                               That's easy ….I'll explain
We love the silly little dog
Even though he's such a pai

Over The Fence

Over the fence we chat each day
                                  And sometimes things we say
Crack us up and make us laugh
It makes for a happy day!

"Over the fence" I might say
                                  But what I really mean
Is online chit chat with a friend
Though your face I've never seen!

                                  Many things we chat about
                                  We trade recipes and jokes
                                  Solving life's little problems
                                  And picking on famous folks!

                                  We've traded pictures of ourselves
                                  But what I didn't say
The picture I sent is 20 years old
It looks better than I look today!

I guess the thing I'd like to say
                                  Is thank you very much
For sharing, caring, and having fun
                                  My heart you really touch!
