The Fountain
So what's in Geneva?
Well...there's this really big fountain...
Its the highest fountain in the world I think, no its not natural, they just wanted a big fountain so they could get wet standing anywhere within 200 metres of it.

The Reformers that followed after Luther. Geneva was a big centre for them, Calvin is practically a saint here. |

auto_supermarket.jpg |
Something you'd expect to see in Japan but here we are in Geneva train station. And we couldn't resist. There is an arm that rolls across when you make your selection and the product rolls out into a bucket which comes back and is dumped in front of the hole in front of you. Really cool. They sell milk, bread, cheese, cookies, bottles of pop. It made our train ride much more pleasant that's for sure. |

Armoury.jpg |
Built originally as a grain market this building later became the armoury, yep, there are cannons right inside, makes it easy to roll them out and start defending yourself.

This, a rare catholic church, is really nice inside, unfortunately you can't tell that from my picture.

The Excavation
Sorry to say it, but this is the only truly fascinating thing we found in Geneva. Underneath the main cathedral archeologists are digging out everything. They've reinfornced the foundations of the cathdral which is above us and dig around the supporting pillars. This huge underground museum actually extends outside to the surrounding area, we walked under a nearby restaurant while we were down here.
The site of this cathedral has been a holy site for over a thousand years, and we walked through the remains of a previous midieval catehdral underneath. In another section further down there are even Roman remains, this mosaic floor used to belong to some rich Roman. This was realy worth a look.
