Nations of the West |
![]() |
In the West are several nations, being peopled by many types and sizes. Man is the dominant power in Eloria, since the First Men came from the western oceans and purged the land of goblin, wyvern and dragon. There have been many empires and kingdoms, but the following are the powers on the world stage. Some are states with a long history and others are born within the last few centuries. Ankh The first city in the west, Ankh has stood since the First Men built it from the bones of the Istar Mountains. The nation extends from the western arm of the Istar Mountains to the Dar Etan Plains. For more information, see Ankh. CC2 map available. |

Kyria Born in the Second Age and guided by Holy Mother Church (Astar and the New Gods), Kyria is a bounteous nation of grain and wines. The land is rich in food, overproducing as a main trade item with other nations, particularly the nations of Dansig and Nas Tirith. Kyria has a sometimes stormy border with Ankh and the religious zealots who run this country are wary of the Stormwatch wizards. For more information, see Kyria. |
Stormwatch The peninsular nation of Stormwatch is a unique place in the West, for the Wizards of the Stormwatch Tower guide and rule this rocky land. Each town elects a mayor to co-rule the province with a local Mage Lord, a trusted appointment by The Tower. For more information, see Stormwatch. Winds and terrible storms pummel this coastal nation, often destroying villages. Many communities have constructed storm shelters by excavation or found natural caves. Their boats are coastal huggers and often constructed of cheap wood since no ship at moorings survives a storm from the Western Ocean. The Tower is also a bastion of knowledge and obsucre texts, since the Wizards are intent on preserving information. |
Dansig This Dragon Sea nation is the premier military force on the Western Stage. It has thrown off the mantles of the New and Elder Gods, proclaiming the faith of the Angel as absolute. This land is the oldest continually inhabited country, though it has suffered from raids, plague and other disasters as this is the land where the worst storms wreak their havoc. For more information, see Dansig. |
Nas Tirith A northern nation founded after the fall of Andor and comprises the southern half of that once great kingdom. Nas Tirith claims a king descended from Andor, the line of Thorenson. This kingdom is constantly at war with its goblin neighbors and often spends many of its resources to hunt and route out their savage neighbors. The land sits on a horde of mineral wealth, but the warfare disrupts operations and often food has to be imported, keeping this nation from growing and expanding as fast it might be able to. |
Vandein An ancient land that was established after Valyria fired the walls of Ankheri, many First Men had wed with the eastern peoples, for Vandein sided with Valyria. The Eagle of Vandein flies for its own cause and this kingdom has often been at odds with the Dragon Sea kingdoms, for it has many ties with Khand and Kehman. Vandein also is a haven for the ships of the East and the South. |
Sarsa A rogue nation if ever there was one, Sarsa was built on the backs of slaves by Necromancers from Khand when the Empire purged itself of corruption some 400 years ago. It rests on the bottom of the Icari Jungles, carving lands and enslaving the jungle populace. This is also a haven to pirates, rogue wizards and other malcontents, for this kingdom is a savage place where justice is bought with gold and revenge is purchased for a few coppers. |
Hyborea A kingdom established after the fall of Ankheri, many First Men who stayed in the West traveled here, to conquer a new land and at the behest of the Elder Gods. They have been instrumental in many wars and often have their own agenda. Most nations leave them be, for while they live in a land of goblins, they prosper by themselves and few ever return from this land of snow and mountain. |
Zandier A desert nation surviving on the edge of the Aranoch Wastes, this is the last remnant of ruined Valyria in the West. The nation is ruled by the Caliph, said to be descended from the original Valyrian governors, but no one really can prove it. There have been many dynasties and civil strife. Often, the people of this land suffer from famine and sickness, but they are an inventive people, cunning in the use of machines and well versed in poetry. |
Kehman Once the colony of Khand, this land has risen in rebellion many times and for the last 400 hundred years remained independant. Often, war starts when Khand has pulled itself back together from civil unrest to try and gain back this kingdom. It is a delta culture that had traditionally controlled the trade between the midlands and the west, but it now serves as a periphery/frontier kingdom for the Nagrim Mountains. Kehman is noted for its obsession with pyramidal structuers, aqueducts and momentous statues. For more information, see Kehman. |
Khand The ancient, the decadent, the rebellious... Khand has always been a hotbed of internal strife and rebellions. The empire often becomes united only to fall apart at the death of the uniter. This land has gone through so many dynasties and and noble families that even they don't bother anymore to try and make sense of it all. There are three large families that have dominated the history of this land, but often there is war inside a family as often as there is unity. Sometimes, a usurping king even has the same first name as the previous one. |

Andor The region of forest called Andor is the ruins of a great kingdom. The forest is now a varied and dangerous land, where demons, dark elves, trolls, goblins and giant spiders seek domination under the same land. It is filled with supernatural predators and strewn with ruins of the past. The nation of Dark Elves, also called Andorans, control handful of magically protected valleys. The elves are also masters of guerilla warfare and craft the finest bows. |
