We can add a caption to the table, rather than just have text typed above or below it. This way the caption stays with the table, being part of the table code; and is automatically aligned with the table. Captions can be at the top (default) or bottom (align attribute). Or both.

By using the colgroup tag, columns can be grouped as easily as rows are using the tbody tag. Span attribute allows you to make two or more columns into a group. Align allows for centering, right-adjust, and left-adjust for an entire column. Width allows control of how wide each column is as a percentage of the whole.
